Work Emotion XT 7 - a few questions.

Postby Mo_GT » Mon Jan 11, 2010 12:18 pm

Does anyone have a set of these fitted in a 18 X 8.5 with a 38mm offset?

As posted by 'hotwire' here http://forum.liberty.asn.au/viewtopic.php?f=19&t=5633&start=45
But with a 38mm offset .

Just want to know if these will fit? will they clear brembos? And will i need to roll my gaurds?

Its been more than 10 years since i last shopped for wheels so i'll take all the help i can get :D

Thanks,
Mo

XT7's should clear Brembo's... I've not seen that size fitted to a Liberty before though!

38 will rub like a bitch on your fenders unless you flare them.

Will a 8.5 wide rim with an 38mm offset scrub with 245 wide tyres?

Thanks,
Mo

I BARELY just clear on a 8.5 wide wheel running 225 with a +50mm offset AFTER rolling the fenders and pumping out the guards a bit.

Thanks again for the replies, i think i might consider another wheel like the XD9 .

Is the safest size (that will fit and not rub) for the GT be 18 x 7.5 with about a 45mm offset?

Don't do what everyone else does... Live on the edge!!

Go an aggressive size/offset wheel and push it to the limit! :D

my 18x8 +45 fits fine with NO scrubbing what soever.

Personally, if I didn't have to worry about my wife driving the car I would lower it to induce camber, run the 18x8.5 +38 and roll the guards. If you get a good guard roller they should be able to roll them without cracking the paint, and it will look hot as!! This size would not work without some camber induced to tuck in the top of the rim. Here is 18x9 +35 (sit 9mm further out) and this is how I would love my wheels to sit:

However, as I stated, having a wife that drives the car, low and wide wheels don't go together :(

So my tip to you, get the 18x8.5 +38, lower the car and roll the guards! :P

Oh, and you'd want to run no more than a 235/40/18 - ideally a 225/40/18 which will be slightly stretched will be perfect ;)

If anything rubs, it will be the tyre and an 18x7.5 +45mm won't rub any less with the same tyre than an 18x8.5 +46mm.

Thanks again for the replies.

Still going to play it safe tho... I like the concave look of the XT 7's but i also don't want the trouble of rolling guards, etc to fit the wheels.

I like the look of the work XD9 too, now, on the specs (http://www.workwheelsusa.com/media/wheels/27/79/Emotion%20XD9%20Spec.pdf) it has a "rim depth", is that the distance from the out side of the rim to where the spokes are?

These are a 18 x 8, 45 or 35 or 28mm offset. Now to find out which ones will clear brembos.

Anyone have Prodrive GC 06H wheels?
