Postby 04GT » Sun Jan 27, 2008 6:19 pm

Hi all,
Curious what is suited for the GT, bigger TMIC or FMIC?
Cheers,

Are you getting it tuned?

If no - TMIC.

If yes - FMIC.

TMIC will always suffer from heatsoak, no matter what it is. Some better than others.

FMIC is a far better design, but I would highly recommend a ECU tune to be done to take full advantage of the mod. "throttle lag" and associated phenomenons can be compensated with ignition timing.

< 200kw at wheels = TMIC
>= 200kw at wheels = FMIC

I could go into more detail, but too tired at the moment,
go to Canberra meet and we can discuss more there.

was about to start a new thread about this but found this on search.
so wats the verdict. top or front, does anyone have any other opinions about this. want to know exactly whats better in the long run.
as i look at it top mounts have air going straight in (eg.piping is shorter) but then as clarence stated in a previous post all the heat is around their, and front mount alot more air blowing against it but piping alot longer for air to circulate around too... i only like front for looks personally.

Well as stated,

What mods do you have at the moment mate?

If the basics are done(Intake, exhaust and tune) and your car is a daily commuter to work etc and you have no intention of doing track days and other motorsports, just stay with the top mount.

If you're planning a bigger turbo, the front mount will take better advantage of the power it offers as the top mount will have its limitations. If you're sticking to the stock turbo, stay with a top mount. And whether you go front mount or bigger top mount, always get an accompanying tune to take full advantage of the power gains.
