New Liberty 3.0R-B owner

Hi all,

I recently purchased a 2004 Liberty 3.0R-B and love it!

It's taken alot of research and alot of cars to get to this subie, initially I was looking at a Commodore VY SS, then Ford Falcon XR8 and XR6 Turbo BF's but as I was buying this car with my girlfriend who's not a fan of larger cars they where crossed of the list, she loved the smaller cars like the micra's. vw polo/golf's which I hated so a few more discarded. Then after walking into work one morning she pointed out a BMW e36 M3 which we both liked, while it is an amazing car it's now over a 10 year old car, starting to show its age and need some dosh spent on them, but the clincher was not being able to find one in good nic and relatively low k's for around $25k, another crossed off! The BMW 330Ci's also got a look in but was above our $25k budget.

So after a few weeks off car searching I thought screw it we'll just buy a cheaper $10K car which will get us from A to B, I starting looking at the older GenIII Liberty's, but that quickly changed after a little more reading and carsales window shopping to the 2.5l GenIV then onto the 3.0R-B which was still within our original $25K budget. The Liberty 3.0R-B was perfect, it had the performance, handling and safety with the awesome leather interior with good seats and stereo, and after a test drive we where sold. The subtle sound of the boxer motor and brillant 6 speed wrx sti gearbox along with the AWD handling and added features over the 2.5l made it a great complete package.

So after finding a nice Silver 2004 MY05 3.0R-B with only 54K on the clock for around $25K on carsales less than a week later we had purchased it privately. Its been to Newcastle and back from Sydney and all is good, best car I've ever owned and we both love it!

Only issue I have is around 5cms worth of stiching need to be redone on the drivers seat, and a few indents and a 3-4mm cut in the leather on the passenger rear seat door needs fixing, just need find a place to get the work done.

Anyway thats me and the new car, great forum, it was the primary reason and source of info that helped me choose the 3.0RB over the 2.5l. Thanks!

Welcome mate , Good to see you stayed away from a Micra, Imagine yourself driving it *Hides in the dark* You could be the paperbag stig who drove a Nissan Micra . Top choice on the 3RB tho

Now about that boxer engine she will need an exhaust so you can really hear her rumble.
