Shell fuel is very dense and whilst it works very well if your engine is working hard, ie in the top 10% of its rev range most of the time, for normal day to day driving the fuel isn't burnt as efficiently which can leave deposits in your engine because of the unburnt additives. There's been quite a few tests done on this, give google a try, it should bring up more detailed responses.
Also, a couple of years ago MRT did a test on all the major brands of fuel and Caltex consistently gave the best results.
Superkarts? Centrifugal clutch? A housemate of 4 years ago had one of those. The amount of times we had the thing (except for the donk itself) in bits....Posseltperformance wrote:I believe there is a thread about fuels already but here goes:
I'm a karter we use tunable 100CC Yamaha engines that produce 18 (17.6) HP at 15,000RPM.

I hate to break it to you, but working in the oil industry myself, I will tell you that in Sydney there are 2 oil refineries, Caltex at Kurnell and Shell at Clyde. As BP don't have a refinery in Sydney, BP uses fuel made at the Shell Clyde Refinery. And as Shell don't have a refinery in Brisbane, but BP does, Shell get there fuel from the BP refinery. I do believe after the fuel is processed, BP and Shell add a few different additives, but ultimately the fuel you buy at BP and Shell in Sydney and Brisbane is very similar. Also, when refineries shut down and do not have enough stock of their own to supply, fuel is very often imported from Asian countries as a finished product. I can only assume Caltex and Mobil have a similar deal with Mobil having a refinery in Altona, Victoria.

Noticed this over the last week - was thinking of shifting from BP ultimate also. I see 208 AWKw in your sig - thats a nice number! What sort of work have you had done to get that, and who was the work done by?
