Want to buy: STi Mufflers

Okay, so I've regretfully offloaded my PHAT Quad tips, so now I'm after a set of STi quads.. So, anyone?

How come you're wanting the STI's?

Bit of a step back from the Phat mufflers IMO.

PM senator or Libsti... They may be willing to part with their standard STI mufflers... Doubt a swap would happen though as both already run Phat quads & both are extremely happy with them :D

Darren has a 2.5 N/A. While the Phat mufflers are nice, I think the STi's are a better suited due to it's smaller piping.

Yeah, you're right Jim.

The sound and look of the PHAT's are fantastic, it's just that with the pipe diameter, I feel like I've lost a LOT of low end torque/power, hills now seem just that little bit harder. I find that I have to downshift for certain hills, where I didn't need to with the stock mufflers.

So yeah, really wanting the quad tip look, with a little a bit of a louder note than stock. Swap anyone? :)

The 2.5 N/A is a bit of a balancing act. There's a point of diminishing return when it comes to pipe diameter. Too small and you get great low end but poor high end power. Too large and high end feels great at the expense of low end power. Something a bit larger or free flowing than factory is a decent compromise between the two medians.

Yeah you're probably right Jim. You reckon the STi's are probably mid way between PHATs and stocks? Or are they the same as stock mufflers just with the S/S tips?

Most will say they are the same - but they are slightly different purely in the fact you have two outlets and lsightly better flow. The twin outlets do run all the way into the muffler body and have the same perforation setup the stock ones do. Same input size etc

I have on a couple of occasions considered Phat muffs, but a few have wanted to change them to something quieter So I need to hear them first before deciding if they are for me. Then there is the whole interstate thing

Are Phats Stainless?

Mild steel body with SS tips.

Sound clips can be found on youtube if you look up liberty phat mufflers.

Will wagon ones fit the sedan? Or will they stick out? Anyone know the length difference between the two?

I don't mind shipping really as I have stock ones to change to for a while.

Here's a quote (albeit filled with terrible spelling mistakes) to answer another quote.
