clarence.. if your going to replace the parcel shelf sub. Make sure its a free air sub lol

That sux Can only imagine it was a >10" sub trying to fire through? Oh the pain of not having a dB meter.

I wouldn't recommend something as small as an 8 if it wasn't firing directly into the cabin. A 'normal' sub setup in a boot with an 8 would really be lacking in power to get sound into the cabin. I assume this is how it was setup?

2 x 15's, then that's not surprising, the hole would be WAY too small to carry the airflow at a reasonable rate without distorting/disturbing the airflow.

EDIT: Actually, 10kW sounds a bit high, what sort of amp array were you using? That's a lot of power for 2 subs.

After the upgrade, I currently still prefer the sound of the Mcintosh headunit. The Eclipse sounds... flat.
(then again I haven't touched the EQ yet )

seriously... once you get to the stage im at now.. 10kw is laughable... amp was a SPL Dynamics D9S

Those subs now have 4xSPL Dynamics D9S powering them.. one amp for each coil. There is NOTHING musical at all about these systems all they are for is going loud.. The car they are in now is concrete sound deadened, custom built MDF cabin, and does 179.3db

All went well. Amp under the seat (found $7 under there too ) and gains below nominal.

Yep, get where you're coming from and with those SPL numbers, not surprised by your figures now. How do you keep the windows and windscreens in? I'd imagine you're popping them out all over the place! That's lost SPL right there!!
