Hey all,

I stumbled across this site one night, it has a lot of answers to the many questions I have, and also just good to browse through all the old post.

Well i Bought my 05 Liberty 3.0r nearly 2 years ago. ( I had my P's so couldn't get a turbo, but now i don't think i would get one)

Its all pretty standard, has 5% tint, stock wheels have been painted black, a sound system (standard H/U and amp - with a LC6 running from the amp which powers a mono block for the subs and a 4 channel amp for all the speakers), sports mufflers and the sports grill.

Yeah, i always say to my misses i want this and that and she just shakes her head. I was lucky enough to get the sound system.

The hardest part with dark tint is the time of day where it is starting to get dark and some cars dont have headlights on. Im pretty used to it by know though cause all my cars have had 5% and same as my dads, but yes it does get tricky every now and again. Lucky for the power windows, helps sometimes.

Im sure i will learn alot here, It has already shed some light on some of the questions i have had.

would like to know more about how your sound system is set up. ie amps to stock headunit and where you have your sub, is it customed into a boot install or just a box in the boot.

all the wires from the amp to H/U are all stock.

Ive just ran line converters from the rear speaker cables to give me the RCA (well the guy in the shop did that)
and then the LC6 goes from the stock amp (which has been screwed under the rear seat)

then the LC6 powers the 2 amps, which both are screwed onto the rear seats in the boot space - the mono block powers the twin 12" which are in the stock box from the shop, and ive changed all the door speakers and tweeters which run off the other amp.

Hey just wondering, is 5% tint legal?

It looks very very dark is all, lib looks good with it though.
Can you post a pic of your rims close up, in the 2nd pic they look very strange and don't even look like the stock rims painted black.

No its not legal - although ive never been done for the tint (i have been defected for many of things, but never tint, if you know a guy for your pink slip/RWC they'll pass it).

Apparently i have heard that the cops have a laser type gun that they put on the windows to measure how dark it is? ? ?

Sorry dont have any good close up ones, I took the wheels off, cleaned them up, and painted them black - but i ran a line of tape along the spokes to keep the silver streak. and with the rear rims i painted them orange first, then taped them up and painted black over them.

I didn'y want full black rims cause they are only 17" so i thought that full black would make them look smaller :P

Okay thanks for clearing all that up.

I will hopefully be getting in to the Vic Academy pretty soon *fingers crossed* so I'm very much against such dark tinting, I know this isn't the USA or anything but walking up to a car that you can't see inside can be a pretty intimidating thing, never know what the driver might be doing.
I'm only interested in getting my tint on the front side windows to match the rear.
Out of interest what is the legal tint limit in your state?

Also what other things have you been defected for? Your car looks pretty standard other than the tint.

As for the Rim's that totally clears it up what you said with the tape, not sure I like the look of it though :?

If you are in the market for any suspension / wheel upgrades, take a look at this thread. Can't go past a deal like this 8)

The darkest legal tint in NSW is 35% unless it is pre 1994 - i think :?

I was defected in my previous car - BA falcon ute -

Yeah i am looking to buy some new rims and lowering it a bit - thats why i just painted them untill i bought some news ones, so it didnt look so standard
