Hello, just joined up today. I own a 2009 GTB-R Black Sedan 6 speed. I've been looking at this forum for a while now & thought I'd ask for some help. It seems strange to me that my car doesn't have heated seats. I looked at the current new Liberty & could not come to terms with the new shape, thought it drove well but knew I'd never enjoy it from the outside.

I've been happy with the purchase.

Has anyone considered purchasing the factory parts for heated seats (as they seem to be standard in the states) & doing a self install? Or is there somewhere to go to get the job done?

if you wanted heated seats you should have bought the forrester..some of the j-spec cars have heated seats ,, your obviously not from QLD or the NT lol

The 'R' was a run of 50 at the end of the last model. It's my understanding that they're just cosmetic difference. Honeycomb grill, red seats & some more fake alloy trim.

I've had a plethora of cars over the years & owned a MY02 Liberty B4 in RED. I was told the owner before was the director of Inchcape & had the only ever red one made. Sold it off to a friend in SA, she's still happy with it.

Interesting to note heated seats was an option in Queensland, why on earth wasn't it also here in Victoria considering our weather!

i think he meant that you're not from QLD... cos u'd prob never use the heated seats

Not sure about the heated seats... Personally, I don't think they are needed if you have a garage. And for the few times that you might park out I don't know if it's worth chasing all the parts mate. But, hey, if you like havin a warm toosh, then go for it.

I think I got used to them in a Golf Gti 06 as they came standard. Women always seem to love them too so would prefer to get back to having them available. I assume as it's an option in the states I should be able to purchase parts & the OEM wiring loom to plug in 'hopefully' into the available socket

Welcome to the forum Clive, Not sure the heated seat is or will be a after market install but worth investigating at least.
I had heater seats in a Honda Accord Euro I once owned, thought they were very 'wanky' till I got into the car and it was 2 degrees C outside then could not help but hit the seat temp high button.

Thank you Teejay, I think whatever options we have in previous cars we tend to expect in our next car if we valued them. The Gold has auto lights & wipers with fast glass all the way around. Also the power accessories would stay on after key removal so I could close or open the roof & windows outside the car, even my old Vectra would allow me to close the windows from the key in the door lock. I like the car for many reasons, I'd have to say my two Liberty's I've owned are essentially 'agricultural' in their feel. whatever Subaru do they seem to make their vehicles feel consistent but never sophisticated. I essentially bought this as a run around in Melbourne whilst in the country. What other car has its power, tractability & space with a reasonable looking ass on it for less than 45k?

Was quite astonished to find that my 09 model didn't even have Blue Tooth as part of the SatNav Macintosh system. I realise a number of these basic needs are solved with the current car but just couldn’t bring myself to buying it due to its shape.

It would be interesting if Subaru would offer a twin turbo Diesel plant for the car.

This is also my first time owning a throttle by wire car from Subaru, I don't know if mine is the norm but there is hesitation under different throttle responses at times that I've not experienced with BMW, Audi or Volkswagen.

Also got very much used to an accelerator pedal that hinges from the floor, I spend a fair part of the year in Germany so I rent a 5 series turbo diesel there.

Went to change the tyres recently as the car still has its stock 215/45/18's on it. I know I moved my Liberty B4's to 225's, I had assumed that having a large diameter wheel now (18's) that Subaru would have a wider wheel on the car but it's still only a 7inch. I assume the Impreza Sti hasn't got wheels this narrow as I 'think' they use a 235.

Anyway I polished & waxed the car recently then took a few shots with my canon 5DMII firm 207, with my old 70-200 2.8 IS Ver1 lens, wasn't too enthused with the results. Ended up draining it's battery by filming the car stationary at 1080 / 24. The things we do!
