Been meaning to do this for a while but just never get round to it. Own a couple of Subaru's, 3.0 GenIV Outback and a 2.0 GenIII Lib Wagon. The Outback has had Vin's treatment and is my wife's daily driver where the GenIII is what I get around in. For now the Outback stays as is and I'm currently trying to decide what to do power wise with the GenIII. It's got Bilstein/Whiteline suspension and WRX/Toyo rolling stock but seriously lacks in the grunt dept. I have a few options but need to sort out which way to go. I'm an Aircraft Mechanical Engineer by trade but haven't been on the tools for 10 years. I'm just about to go back but this time on the wheels not wings working for a mate who specializes in Subarus. He runs a Bugeye STI in the ACT/NSW State Rally Champs and is opening a new workshop soon where we'll be building a new car from the ground up. I'm really looking forward to it as it's going to be quite educational.

I live in Jindabyne so if anyone is ever down this way let me know and we can hook up for a beer or two

Thanks mate,

Hopefully building the rally car will teach me a few tricks I can pass on to crew here.I know it'll certainly help with the GenIII as there is certainly a turbo in the plan it's just a question of what engine to use.

Cheers fellas,

It's a good crew here with lots of good knowledge and ideas. Was intending to keep the wife's Outback stock but the last week has had me thinking of doing the wheels, as well as the intake and exhaust to go with the V-tune. I've been trying to find the dyno sheet for the V-tune to post up but you've all seen those before. Went from 125kw/250nm to 140/300 and flattened the torque curve. Best $300 I've ever spent on performance upgrades and I've spent plenty in the past. These Subaru's are my step back into the car world and have rekindled the flame. Previously had a 69 Capri with a Lotus Twin Cam, a VB Commondore with a tripple Webered 186/Celica 5-speed, and an 88 TX3 Turbo 4WD with adj boost, pretend cat and av-gas (was in the RAAF at the time so had access to plenty of the stuff). A move to Newcastle and the beach saw 8 years of 4wds and dirt bikes but then 5 years in Japan rekindled the car flame. So here I am and hopefully it'll be an interesting journey

Hi Adrian,

Weren't you thinking getting a Tactrix cable ? The next release of definitions is due at the end of this month on the Romraider website. I realise you already have a Vin tune but as you are a technical type of bloke perhaps there are gains to be had by a little tuning yourself. I've seen an Outback around where I live that's been slammed and it looks HAWT!!!!!.

Cheers,
David.
