Hello all , Hope I can learn a thing or two here. Just bought a 2005 Liberty GT EJ20x T Wagon

Mods include Kinugawa Turbo and Cobb cold air intake

First question: I replaced the GFB respons BOV (failed safety certificate) with stock BOV and reset ecu. Is that the right thing to do ?

Welcome (and go the wagon!)

In my limited observation the jury is out on whether a change to the Blowoff Valve requires messing with the ECU. Whatever "reset ecu" is, it sounds like overkill. Does that mean you lost a tune suitable for an aftermarket turbo and the cold air intake?

A better approach may be to leave the ECU alone (and/or get a tune anyway if the car is new-to-you with aftermarket airflow-critical parts and a question mark over the tune).

If a less law-abiding person than yourself liked the aftermarket BoV they would of course put it straight back on once the official processes were behind them.
