G'day! Time to stock up on sanitiser-laced dunny rolls again

I do hope all affected by The Zombie Apocalypse are recovering in hiding. I wish you well, but over... ...there! No, keep going! Further!
Very thankful that somehow bending bananas seems to be a pastime that gains some immunity to Zombies... 8)

After buying my first Liberty a number of years ago, I've relished its chuckability and predictable responses; if only there was slightly more feel through the tiller; owning a few Falcons in the past highlights this incredibly!
That said, a tired 2.5L with nigh-on 300K on the clock leaves me pining for torque again. That's why I've put myself onto the market for a 3.0R-B Liberty. Manual, of course. (The shocking amount of autos available is just saddening - such a waste!)

If anyone knows of an '07, '08 or '09 3.0R-B Manual Sedan in Queensland that needs a new owner, please PM me! :D

My 07,8 and 9 ... Good choice.. They IMHO look the best and according to my Subi specialist they are also the best model to get.. have you driven one of those in a GT, spec b or sti.. The 2.5 with a turbo is a nice torque combo. And it wouldn't hurt to test drive an auto. The S drive and paddle shifts are a nice combo as well. I have a wrxs, gc8 with 2.5 and mods and it lives under it cover these days because I am loving the auto LIB GT...Maybe I am just getting old... LOL.. Anyway..good model choise .. 8) Good luck..

Good to see some Brisbane people around here.

Was your old 2.5L naturally aspirated or turbocharged? Opinions will differ, but the 2.5L turbo would be my pick over 3.0L NA for torque (and modification potential if you need more).

I get what you mean seeking a manual. I would have one but for the need to have my car drivable by my wife when needed. I've learned to enjoy the Forester 4-speed auto, which has its own merits, including a slingshot launch when you want that.

This is our first Liberty. We also have 2 wrxs and an Sti. My wife's previous WRX was an auto and it was soo much fun that I decided to get a LIB GT Auto, and I love it. My rex gets taken out every few weeks on a week day and I go shopping at Keperra via Mt Nebo. It does everything as well as the Sti (it's not even registered anymore and lives under the house in it's cover. We use it to store toilet paper). . I still love that car but it goes back under the cover as soon as it gets home because I actually prefer the GT. It has TEIN coilovers, a nice sounding Xforce exhaust and a stack of other goodies and although it is slow compared to the rex, it handles and brakes almost as well and the auto is awesome and I look forward to the next time I drive it even after having it for 12 months now. I have never driven a 3ltr or 3.whatever ltr models so I don't know what they are like..The only non turbo 2.5ltr I have driven belongs to a friend and it was a lovely my07 model wagon. It was nice but not in the same league as the GT (turbo) model..

...via Mt Nebo

A few cracking bits or road through there.

I'll get back to Keperra -> Mt Nebo -> Mt Glorious -> Samford (or opposite direction) evening fun-runs a bit more when i get some licence points back later in the year. Too risky losing the few I have at the moment.

I agree, based on driving our "nice but slow" 2.5NA SG model forester. As Mr Samuel L Jackson once said

...ain't the same ballpark, it ain't the same league, it ain't even the same f***in' sport.

There is a very nice circuit if you want to get out into some mountain twisties for the day and enjoy you car.. Start in Samford at the Caltex roundabout and head up to Nebo via PEI road, turn right at the top and follow to Glorious and go down the other side (nice bbq and picnic area at the bottom with a nice mountain creek and toilets etc) Continue to T junction turn right again, go past Lake Wivenhoe and Somerset dam to T junction at D'aguilar Hwy and turn right again. Go through Kilcoy and a couple of KS out of Kilcoy turn right into Neurum Road and follow it along beside the eastern side of the dam and joins back up to the D'aguilar Hwy and turn right, again, go into Woodford. Go through Woodford and about 3ks out of town there is a pub on the right.. Turn right at the pub ( there is a small store on opposite corner that has THE best burgers and take away food you will find anywhere) . Go up and over Mt Mee to Dayboro (watch for cops on bikes and radar vans. When you get to the T junction in Dayboro, turn right again. Dayboro Bakery on the left has best pies ever and the butcher shop 200 meters further on the right has the best sausages. At the end of the main street of Dayboro you get to the T junction and this time turn LEFT. It takes you back to the roundabout in Samford.. So it's basically a big square block with some of the best steep and twisted mountain roads and beautiful scenery you"ll get in SEQ . Don't do it on weekends unless you like processions because the bikers and car clubs do it on weekends. Watch you brakes going down the other side of Glorious .. it is VERY steep with very sharp bends and the road is covered in rubber because the boys go up there and drift all the way up in the middle of the night. It reminds me of the road up Mt Zao in Japan that is covered in rubber https://www.google.com/maps/place/Mount ... 40.4458267 . Also watch out for push bikers with a death wish.. It's about 1.5 to 5 hours depending on how many times you stop to enjoy the view. Top of Mt Mee looks north over Glass House Mountains and Sunshine Coast.

Yes it is left... Once you have arrived in Dayboro and you have turned right into the main street of Dayboro, it has a "T" junction at the end where the pub is and that LEFT turn takes you towards Samford. The map doesn't show it as it is only a few hundred meters. It is directly under the "State Route 58" dot on the map.. That's dayboro where that dot is. If you turn right at the pub it takes you north towards Lacey's Creek which is a dead end. About 35 years ago you could actually keep following a dirt road that went all the way up to Mt Glorious and Mt Nebo. It got very little use and was too expensive to maintain so they blocked it off at Lacey's creek at the bottom and at the Lookout at the top and bulldozed the entrances at both ends and then let it simply grow over. At the same time they opened the new road down the western side of Mt Glorious down to the dams .. I miss that circuit as it was a nice drive with quiet swimming holes down at the Lacey's Creek end.
Your map is perfect and shows how much fun those winding mountain roads are. Personally I wouldn't do it on the weekend as there is no where to pass and people are out for a nice drive in the country often doing 20-30 ks below the speed limit. The road from the bottom of MT Mee on the Woodford northern side used to be a 100k zone all the way to the top with 30k advisory corners so it was a very popular section of road with people stopped at the bottom waiting for a 2-3 minute gap behind the last car so they wouldn't have a spoilt run up. About 3-4 years ago they made it a 60 k zone.. Very disappointing for all those who knew that section. There was good visibility but I guess a few too many bikers came off over the years so something had to be done. I have a dash cam video following a WRX Club Spec 4 (the yellow ones) from the bottom to the top but it would be a bit irresponsible to put it on the net.
The DOT between the Showgrounds Road DOT and the D'Aguilar Highway DOT is actually the Town of Kilcoy the road does a kink through Kilcoy so just follow the flow through town. The DOT on D'Aguilar highway is just the right turn into Neurum road.. It just bypasses boring highway driving and rejoins the highway just outside of Woodford.. If you ever do this drive on a week day, let me know and I'll tag along..

That sounds like a great plan!

I'll be having a week off soon, work-load depending. I'm hoping for the last week of this month...

Watch this space...
