Hello all,

Just bought this bad boi its a 2005 3.0R Spec-B and its definitely one of the faster cars I've owned, as you can probably tell I'm Tassie based mainly Hobart.
I do have a few quick questions if anyone can help me with this

How do the headlights in this model differ from the standard model and GT model of this generation?
And i am also assuming the stud pattern is different from the usual 5x100?

Congratulations on the purchase. I'm a big fan of the Gen 4 look, plus the 6 cylinder intake manifold looks like a big scary insect.

Regarding "i am also assuming the stud pattern is different from the usual 5x100?", I would be willing to bet it is the same, but you can measure it easily enough.

UPDATE - my Forester (5x100) and a colleague's 6cyl gen 4 Liberty are in the carpark here at work - I just measured the wheel nut spacing on both and they are the same (about 95mm from "the tip of the star to one of the legs" - indicating about 100mm circle diameter).

Conversely a different car downstairs (a Lexus) had measurably wheel wider stud placement.

I was looking for a Gen 4 GT wagon with the right specs/price in Qld (or near enough in one of the lesser States) for ages before changing direction and grabbing a Forester XT.

As such, we are a two-Forester household. It's not all good. All the attention from being a glamour couple is a bit wearing sometimes.

I just looked up adm prefl headlights and they’re effectively all the same, however some models had a blue tint bezel, and there is an alternate part number.

Ah the first model I owned... loved it so much got a face lifted 09 one.
Headlights are h bulbs. Just stock.
Stud pattern should be 5 x 100.
Only thing to keep an eye on is oil use... the early h6 engines seem to use a lot so expensive if you run it dry.....
Apart from that a reliable car and will respond well to a tune....

The first thing I'd do would be to install an engine watchdog device, so you know as soon as the coolant system is over temp.
Or get the BtSsm app or even Torque app, and set an alarm for same.

H6 are notorious for developing air pockets in the heater core, or from an improper bleed after maintenance, and the result is usually a blown head gasket, usually around the $3000 mark to fix.

Other preventative measures include changing the coolant on time, replacing the stock radiator every 100-150k km, dont mix coolant colours, changing out any bulging when hot hoses, back-flushing the heater core both ways (the in and out sides) and bleeding the cooling system maybe once or twice a year: cant hurt.

If your heater starts playing up, not heating, intermittent heating etc, waterfall sound behind dash (not to be confused with weird sound inside dash: hvac blend door actuator fault), take action immediately.

Other than that, plus timing chain guides, avcs and alvs issues, they're lovely cars, I cant wait to own one

I can confirm the stud pattern is the same.
I have a set of 17" (5-spoke) wheels from a GT I occasionally pop on my Spec B when I've used it in hillclimbs.
