Hey guys, been lurking on these forums since Feb 2019 and finally got my hands on a 2014 Subaru Liberty GT Wagon Manual as of last week. First Subaru and my second car ever. Flew down to Sydney to buy it and drove it back to Brisbane, QLD the next day. Didn't miss a beat the whole trip, such a great cruiser! It's also such a sleeper wagon which is why I was chasing it in the first place, I love it so much. Feel free to say hi if you spot me in QLD, plates are 2Z2ZZ, name is Cale.

Planning on 19 inch, 8.5 +45 wheels and Potenza RE003 tyres as my first "mods" to fill out the guards a bit, then slowly moving into lowering springs, sways and tuning. So exciting! Thanks for all the information you guys share on here has made me so keen for customising this car!

Very cool! :D . It's good to see another post FL Gen V on the forums.

Have you decided on any wheels that you might get? It's quite a task searching for 19" wheels in the 5x100 bolt pattern (reasonably affordable ones at least). I'm struggling to find a decent looking set of wheels myself haha.

Hey! I've been looking at Rotiform LAS-Rs in a 19x8.5 5x100 +45. They're listed on Bob Jane T-Marts and Mode Auto Concepts from what I've found at around $1700 for a set of 4. I haven't ordered them yet so I'm not too sure how long I'm gonna have to wait since 19 inch 5x100 is quite an uncommon configuration so they may have to special order them from the US. I hope not though since I was hoping to have lowering springs and wheels done for a meet in early Feb.

Yeah it sucks, there's never any local stock for 5x100 19s. I almost pulled the trigger on a set of Rotiforms RSEs a while ago which also come in the same spec as the LAS-Rs you mentioned, but I figured I'm more into the JDMish wheels like the Work Kiwamis. Though, it cost a fortune to purchase and send from Japan with the 19" 5x100 spec. Best of luck with the wheel hunt! Hopefully you don't have to wait for them to be shipped from the US.

Hi Mate,

I have seen this car around. I'll throw a wave if I see you. I am mostly on the south side of Bris.

Update! Just ordered some Work Emotion ZR10s in Glim Black with Machined Lip in 19x8.5, 5x100, +45 from JDMConcept.com.au, rather good pricing in the end but it's about a 2 month wait, yikes! But only 25% deposit until the wheels arrive so that gives me time to save!

So in the meantime I've contacted Garage88 for a quote on STI Pink Springs and Cusco Sway Bars (F+R), then getting a GFB BOV from CarModsAustralia and getting all that fitted before the wheels arrive and then fitting the wheels as the last piece of the puzzle in 2 months time. Keen as.

And wow! I'll keep an eye out for the wave Craig, wasn't expecting a spotting so soon haha

Fitted the GFB BOV last weekend, took me about an hour due to the spring clips trying to take my fingers off. Pretty easy install otherwise thanks to Muzza's guide. Must say, it makes a rather satisfying noise on full atmosphere but I eventually dialed it back to full recirc due to laws and power efficiency. Photo and short video below.

Sways, springs and strut brace are coming on the 7th of Feb, All new DBA pads and rotors on the 10th and then working on performance after that with a AVO Dump Pipe, AVO Intercooler, Xforce cat-back and a custom tune. Wheels are still a while off, maybe like 1.5 months so I've got time. Can anyone provide a wheel kw value I should aim for without wrecking the daily drive or blowing a motor? I was thinking 180-190kw.

Depends, an FB member with a billet wheel stock turbo and all the supporting mods was a little disappointed to be safely knock limited in the tune to 15psi/176wkw.

He might get more on pump after decarbonising the pistons on e85 for a while.

Some members here are MSR tuned with supporting mods to say 200wkw @ 19psi.

Personally, I err on the side of caution with 15psi which might overshoot to 18 in 2nd, wot anyway.

Update, got the strut brace, rear sway and upgraded links in all around. The workshop manual I downloaded must have been for an NA Liberty because I could not for the life of me get the front sway bar out following the instructions, it kept hitting the steering rack crossmember or the dump centre pipe, it was hard to pick what it was. Judging from the Japanese instructions that came with the sway bar, it looks like I have to drop the motor mounts/frame ~30mm in order to get enough clearance. I'm not confident in doing that in my garage or even if I'd be able to DIY it at all, so I'm leaving the front sway bar until I know what to do with it. I also don't want to pay a fortune in labour for a shop to do it either so I'm a bit stuck for now.

Got the all new rotors on and rear brake pads in, however, Sparesbox sent me the incorrect front pads which are too small so now that's a whole mess around returning them for the correct size. Yay.

Next is STI pink springs then might pause and appreciate for a bit until the wheels get here. Then save for performance after that.

Well my tuner, ThrottleHappy got in touch regarding the above info.

It turns out that the GenV has a torque limiting feature in the stock tune that some tuners are unfamiliar with. The right tuner can deliver the full 19psi without issues.

I went through the exact same issue with the dba brake pads and being supplied the wrong part by an online vendor. I think the issue stems from the common dba database not being quite complete for their brake pads and the GEN5 GT.

Anyways, the confirmed part numbers I got directly from dba are:
Front pads p/n DB1722XP
Rear pads p/n DB1789XP
