Club Rego Advice - '93 Liberty LX Driving Mystery Box Rally

Postby MysteryBoxLiberty » Wed Sep 12, 2018 9:10 pm

Hi guys,

I'm new to the forum and a proud new owner of a 1993 Liberty LX! I'd like to know about registering my 25 year old car on club rego. I'm competing in Mystery Box rally this October, starting & finishing in Mildura, Vic. I'm a total novice to this, so any advice gratefully received.

Mystery Box Rally is one of Australia's largest community event for Cancer Council. It's the baby brother of Shitbox Rally, and combined they've raised over $15m for Cancer Council.

I'm self-finding the car, and getting it legal etc. so am seeking cost effective options - especially for roadworthy & rego. Every saving on getting the car ready means more towards my $4,000 fundraising goal for Cancer Council.

Thanks in advance of any assistance

Here's some info on what the MG club require to handle a Club Permit application for you
http://www.mgcc.com.au/documents/cps.shtml
However, you have to be a member of their club, which will cost $210 for the first year ($65 joining plus $145 annual fee)

You may find other clubs that are cheaper to join, but if you also need to get a CAMS licence, make sure they are a CAMS affiliated club first...
