Hi all!
I'm getting my first Subaru this week. exciting times.

I have one kid and another on the way so had to upgrade. I noticed most cars these days are just rubbish (especially "suv's"). too small inside, under powered and heavy due to 'features' i don't want. So after a process of elimination the liberty wagon was the best choice. Stagea was second choice

never had a Subaru before so this will be all new for me. :good:

Welcome Spike.

The GenV is a bit 'boaty', but is a comfortable cruiser (esp with family) and can be a bit a fun through the twisties (when riding solo - especially after investing in a few mods without going over the top).

well, yeah all wagons are. i wasn't expecting too much in the way of performance at 1600kg, but like you said a good family car.

What mods would you recommend for a gen V to make it a little more fun solo through the twisties? i live near Healesville so going anywhere is a fun drive/ride.

Base level stuff I'd look into are:
Front and rear swaybars
stiffer springs
upgraded LCA bushes
upgrade from the stock brake pads and brake lines
engine tune (I've done mine through kido racing/tuning.... check out throttlehappytuning on facebook)

These mods sound good. not sure about performance mods. not sure if its worth it.

had a look at those links. interesting ideas. just need to decide how to spend my money haha

First thing will be the sat nav hack though.

A Kido tune is the best bang for the buck.... better performance and fuel economy.
Enjoy.

Welcome. I also have a Black wagon! I totally agree on the Kido tune - it will liven up your car and will improve fuel economy.

My car is lowered and there are larger front rotors. I am about to add a dump pipe and then retune.

The GT Liberty is a great drivers car

thanks guys. Kido tune, how much are they worth?

Also, i want to upgrade my exhaust but have so many questions. i want something that sounds nice, is a little louder than stock but isn't obnoxious enough to annoy my wife and kids.

1) i'm thinking the nvidia q300 cbe might be too loud?
2) maybe an axle back? like megan racing or something like this http://meganracing.com/exhaust/exhaust-systems/axle-back/mr-abe-si084d25-new.html
3) what is the diameter of the stock exhaust?
4) is it true that wrx exhaust will fit?

so much to learn about this car...
