Hopefully joining the liberty fraternity

G’day,
Haven’t purchased a liberty yet but on the hunt. Have had a few nice subarus in the past but have been subie less for about 7 years. Looking for a nice 2007-2008 wagon sti or spec b preferably in a manual.

Past subies include my00 Rx green hatch, my99 dark blue wrx slightly modded and my favourite which I wish I kept was my99 wrx sti white 2 door. Not sure if there are any oldies on here but I use to be a member on rexnet, gtrydaz, qldwrxclub etc in the early /mid 2000’s when superfly, Sku81 and Merckx were on there.

Anyhow hope to jump back into a Subaru soon.

I finally found a nice steel silver 2008 Liberty Sti Wagon.
Even for a 10 year old car so nice to drive. Just have to resist the urge to modify it it. :)

The main thing is to get Btssm, tactrix or vagcom logging so you can keep an eye on its state of tune, and then get it tuned for drivability and reliability :)

Once you get to logging it, you’ll want to get it tuned, coyote is a safe bet in QLD or could advise.
I use ThrottleHappy aka Kido tune last 7 years, a great option.

Well, for myself the only option thanks to Matt’s personalisation of my cars dbw maps: 7/12/15psi on equalised throttle angle... plus throttle as boost controller and launch control.

Don’t bother with modding the car yet as you’ll have various service upgrade opportunities regardless :P

These include but are not limited to: lca & diff bushes, inlet & throttle body hoses, new oem front o2 sensor, digressive coilovers eg MCA or Shockworks and desirable actual upgrades eg 3” turbo back exhaust (great on tbsti muffs), 3 port boost control solenoid... plus a tune or retune to suit.... and a D shape 365mm steering wheel :P

Don’t forget the best available rubber and suitable pads n rotors where required :)

That’s the tip of a lovely iceberg lol.

The trick is to line it all up with proven solutions, to suit your available budget.
Do it once right, and enjoy it for years.
Eventually you’ll have the budget for round 2, which should involve a tasty built long motor with all the trimmings.
