Well hello fellow Subaru enthusiasts!

New owner of a used 2007 Subaru Liberty GT Spec. B! I'm a 2nd time Subaru owner, previously owned a 2005 Subaru WRX STi in the US. Glad to be back behind the wheel of a subaru again! Although I was a single 20 something when I owned the STi and modded it till my heart's content. Liberty is more of a family car but I doubt it will remain stock :D. Had 92000km on it so not bad for a 10 year old car.

Will post some pictures in a few days but if anyone is interested in the mod list from my old STi, here you go:

Happy to be here and join the community!

Cheers,
Vivek

Wish it was a manual! My wife is not comfortable driving on the other side of the road and car, let alone trying to figure out a manual so we stuck with the 5 speed auto.

And yes and the spending will be plenty. Just need to figure out how to manage my spending with a family this time...I'm sure I'll get plenty of inspiration here.

It already started as I just picked up a K&N filter to replace the stock one.

Nice, just keep an eye on your maf, as regards excess oil from the k&n...
It's a known potential issue. :)
Throttlehappy tune also works wonders on the response of the 5eat apparently.

hey mate welcome

im in similar shoes, went from hawkeye wrx tuned by sti to liberty tuned by sti

for airfilter you should of bought cosworth or avo, k&N contains oil and can contaminate the MAF

Good point guys. Will see how thhe filter does over the next few weeks and take a loom at the MAF sensor. Might switch it out if thats the case.

What is this throttlehappy tune? Will need to do some research but is it like a off the shelf tune using something like the cobb accessport on the STis?

Its a tune from Matt McLeod who is known as throttle happy on several forums. Best to do on dyno but his standard staged ones are good too.

even with Matt's retune on a fully standard car the difference is day and night

Would you guys recommend some basic standard upgrades to get the most out of his tune? Like CAI, upgraded top mount, etc...things that wont break the bank and could help keep the car's reliability.

See vinshonz signature above.
Basic mods required to safely make c200atw which is towards the upper limit of what an un-built 5eat can take before assploding.

Suspension/handling-wise, all that's required are good digressive coilovers, eg shockworks or mca, upgrade LCA bushes and HD rear swaybar mounts eg AVO.
Heavier sways are only required for handling fine tuning if at all.
It's a grand tourer so keep it compliant and controlled with the aforementioned coilovers.

If you're in Melb I can demonstrate my setup, as roads get rougher, the car stays composed with great recovery in the sketchy stuff.

for biggest boost in power and bang for buck is the dumpipe + tune

then comes turbo + retune

all the others are supporting mods like fuel pump, intercooler, 3 port, air filter/ or cold air, silicone intake, BOV;
helps with reliability, better boost control, faster spool etc etc

Start logging the car via ssm/can w/ btssm on android or romraider on pc.
Learning view and a freeway pull if the car is healthy.
Confirm inlet tract, pcv & breathers, exhaust etc holds vacuum or boost where applicable (stock rubber inlet n TB hose are the usual suspects. Smoke test inlet is best way to do this.

The common issues affecting reliability include avcs ocv fails, coilpack n plug, excessive crank case pressure from stuck pcv, vac/boost leaks, leaking cam covers, rear main, engine seals etc.
Diagnosis & rectification of the stock setup should yield results.
Fuel pump & intank filter is a great idea if competently executed.

Iirc one benefit of a stockish modded lib is that Mc Matt has had a virtual flex fuel tune like since forever apparently.
I can't really comment as I'm not running it yet.
Basically iirc you need to commit to replacing some fuel components after x amount of k's due to the effects of introducing e85 to your usual 98 :P
