New here.
Bought an 08 GT Premium with very low ks for its age. Just over 100,000 $16,900 The car is pretty immaculate apart from 3 tiny dents the PO's kid put in the rear panel.
Love my Subie's but already don't like the way this car appears to oversteer. My 97 outback and 98 Bilstein edition liberty handle better than the GT. lighter and more nimble this lug just wallows. When you put the power down it feels decidedly loose like the rear wants to catch up to the front.

Can any of you guys suggest what size and brand stabilizers to fit which will flatten it out on the mountain twisties. The car has more than enough power but in my opinion the handling is not up to scratch.
Cheers

Welcome :)

Nice wagon! By the way, you have a GT SpecB - the Premium etc designations were only used for the non-turbo lower spec models.

Your oversteer problem is odd. I found that my 08 GT SpecB Wagon is impossible to oversteer (at least on tarmac, and without any special moves like pulling the handbrake or Scandinavian Flick). It just GRIPS in in the twisty stuff. Even at full throttle mid-corner, it'll just pull through the corner. The only time I get a bit of understeer (now that my tyres are a few years old), is when I end up much too fast into a corner.

Do you have good sticky tyres? I had to get mew tyres as soon as I bought my car, so unfortunately I've never known my car on lower quality tyres than my Bridgestone S001s. So I don't know if that could be the cause.
I'd also look at the date code of the tyres. Since the car has pretty low kms, they might have lots of tread, but have gone hard with too many heat cycles.

Other than that, get all the suspension components Incl bushes checked. You can upgrade it if you want, but I'd get back to how it should be handling first.

Yokohama AD08R or Bridgestone Re002 & suspension & bushings check/replace as needed.
Should sort it.

I would do coilovers after tyres n suspension check/fix if still not happy.

Uprated sways should be used to fine tune track handling, not as a bandaid for flogged dampers imho.
Get mca or shockworks and keep the sways stock till the rest is sorted at least...

Initially you'd want to check if your swaybar links are ok, according to former member kiks, undoing a swaybar link at the front iirc, turns the car into an oversteer monster.
Rear swaybar mountain mounts are weak, so get avo (best) or cusco (or diy) hd mounts even for the stock sways.
At your k's the front rearward LCA bushes might be flogged, replace with solid urethane bushes also available in caster offset.
Here's some info on tyre pressures and handling.

Too much rear toe causes the car to hop at the rear mid corner. An alignment may fix your issue.
