My new daily
I just posted an intro thread on OzLiberty (which I'll cut and paste below, hope that's ok), then as I was browsing around there I came across a link to this site, with the suggestion that it's more focussed on later models - which is great because that'd make it more relevant for me

Previous Rides:
- VC Commodore - 202, 5 speed
- R33 Skyline - 300rwkw, fun
- Honda CBR929RR - also heaps of fun
- Toyota Cressida - I don't want to talk about it
- R33 Skyline (yes another one) - near stock but being turned into a track car
- Mazda Astina - cheap on fuel...
And the thread from OzLiberty with a bit more info:
Well after around 10 years of driving Skylines, I've just bought my first ever Subaru. I guess you could say I've come over from the dark side haha
Anyway I picked up a pearl white, manual MY08 GT-B sedan, the 'tuned by STi' model... I grabbed the keys yesterday and already I'm smitten. I haven't even really been able to give it much because it's still being run in - I couldn't resist a couple of small squirts but I'm keen to see what it'll do when I'm able to open her up properly.
My initial impression is that the "Intelligent" mode on the SI drive really doesn't suit me, you have to be absolutely crawling to use it, particularly if you use the shift points that flash up (<2500rpm I think) - that may change once I've had some more time to get used to the car though. "Sport" mode suits me better for everyday stuff, and "Sport Sharp" is great if I'm driving quickly, but makes it slightly more difficult to drive smoothly if I'm just cruising.
It rides beautifully (I read reviews saying it was a bit stiff, they are either on drugs or need a dose of concrete), handled nicely in the few corners I've been able to toss it around, and the brakes are fan-bloody-tastic. The interior is nice, the dual-zone climite control is great for partners that complain about being too hot or cold, the stereo pumps pretty well, the headlights are amazing, it looks good, sounds alright (if a bit quiet)... it's just a brilliant car.
I'm not planning any mods at this stage (though I've said that before lol), it's the daily driver so I can't do anything too crazy with it. It replaces a rock stock Mazda Astina so it already has plenty more go.
The Soob shares a garage with a bike (a Fireblade if you're wondering) and our R33 S2 Skyline. The 33 is currently stockish but we're planning on doing it up as a track car, and the Mazda was putting me to sleep, so there was an opening for something to fill the void.
I'm looking forward to learning how to drive all over again, and maybe meeting a few of you lot out and about!
Cheers
Marc
