MY07 Liberty GT 2.5T Spec B

Greetings all

Having just purchased my first Liberty this week I thought I'd introduce myself here. I've been a very big admirer of this vehicle for a quite a while and finally managed to pick one up with relatively low kms. Needless to say this week has been a happy one! Now both bays of my garage are Subaru (the other half has a Forester).

I'm looking to eventually make a few basic performance modifications, so in time I'll no doubt be seeking some advice from forum members on all things Liberty, as well as recommendations on Brisbane-based parts/service vendors.

Looking forward to getting involved in the forums here - seems like a good community.

As promised, here's a couple of photos of my newly-acquired Liberty.
This week saw it take a little ride on the back of a tow truck due to a radiator failure, but despite that little episode, I'm pretty satisfied with (finally) being a Liberty owner.

Mine went at 150k, stock replaced, should be due in another 50-100k lol.

A pretty common occurrence I have since discovered. I toyed with the idea of a radiator upgrade while I had an excuse to do so, however I ended up settling with a top tank replacement. For me, the additional coin required for a upgraded radiator is probably better spent on brake components at this stage - I'm pretty keen to improve the somewhat spongy brake feel.

New fluid might be the go, I didn't notice a huge difference in pedal feel between stock GT-B gear and the upgrade to Brembos, SS lines, and Cusco bmc stopper. I did the upgrade purely for the bling and potential heatsoak headroom, btw...
Let's say I try to use brakes as little as possible lol...
Reminds me my fluid must be overdue at 3+ years
The motul glamour clear fluid is highly recommended, I used stocko Castrol dot4 iirc.

The stock pads I found were awful - I upgraded to Intima SR pads and T2 rotors and found that was a significant improvement in feel (except for when it was super cold). A good improvement for most people would be just Intima SS pads. I've since gone with a full brembo with project mu hc800/dba T3/braided line setup, but tbh I never had an issue with the previous setup.

Good to hear about different products people are using.
I'll be doing the fluid and fitting SS HEL brakelines this weekend. Rotors and pads are certainly on the agenda, but will have to wait for now.

Will do. I'm hoping for a modest but noticeable improvement.

I recently fitted HEL brake lines together with Penrite replacement fluid. There is a slight (though noticeable) improvement in pedal feel as a result. DBA rotors are planned at some stage, but I will likely retain the stock GT calipers and simply tart them up with some paint (when time allows).
