So you've probably seen my post about my GT

But I thought I'd formally introduce myself since I'm part of the suby gang now and will end up annoying you all with questions.

Residing in Melbourne!

Went into the market looking for another boring sedan (camry) found a Liberty GT for cheap (and got it even cheaper)
And here I am....

First things first I'll be putting in a dump pipe and upgrading the oil line to the turbo. I'll keep this as stock looking as possible, with some suspension upgrades early on next year.
Its plenty of power for me so I don't see any engine mods happening at all.

Thanks for being so helpful during the buying process, I couldn't be more happier with it.

Welcome mate, make sure that you get the car properly tuned once you put your dump pipe on.

Churs!

The whole service history has been done at Subaru Docklands here in Melbourne, so i'll be taking it there to get it all done in the one go, along with a service.

I'm not mechanically minded so to speak, so unfortunately I have to pay.

Unless anyone can recommend a Melbourne based suby mechanic they'd back?

Subaru dealers can't tune your car for a dump pipe, you'll have to take it to a local dyno tuner or send Kido Tuning a pm on these forums.

Not sure if you're saying that I'll probably get addicted to mods and want more power OR you're trying convey that I have less power than you and for some reason that's funny?

If the later - Cars aren't my whole life, I've got other more important shit to spend money on, this has 180kw with all four wheels connected. For my to and from work in Melbourne city winter, its all anyone needs.

More and you're just wasting money on bragging rights.

I think he was saying that it's so hard to resist not going for more power, this forum is full of good ideas and temptation

Upgrade the dump pipe and either get a dyno re-tune or a Kido tune and you'll love it. Should keep you happy for a little while, although the thirst for power is very strong...

OR, just get the Kido Tune with no other mods. The difference alone will probably surprise you. I know it did on my H6. Better torque for drivability, and better fuel economy (a must on H6) for a very reasonable price......and you don't get your hands dirty at all

Can you explain the kido tune for me? It keeps popping up.

It's one of the best bang-for-buck mods you can do. I had my car tuned by XRT and the driveability of the car is vastly improved. Many Kido customers will tell you the same thing.

Your car's stock tune from factory is very conservative because Subaru have no idea where you will drive and how you will drive, so to ensure that the car works well for everyone, the car is sold in a very de-tuned state. By tuning the car for your local atmospheric conditions and the way you drive, the car can gain volumes of extra power and torque (with no extra hardware mods), become more fuel-efficient and make the car that much more fun to drive. Flat spots are removed. Lagginess is removed. Go-power from standstill is improved. Idling is improved. etc etc etc.

Tuning is easy - they connect your car to a laptop (effectively turning it into a glorified USB device), take a copy of the existing code that governs how the car handles input and engine control, modify the code accordingly, upload it back to the car, take some acceleration logs, review the data to see where further improvements can be made or if there are problems to address, and then then continue to tweak the code with multiple revisions until both tuner and owner are happy.

If you do decide to do hardware mods down the track (and you will), you can update your tune later to best take advantage of them, though some would argue to do those mods now before you tune.
