Dan with a van

Postby TwistdInfinity » Tue May 26, 2015 6:14 pm

Name: Dan
Ride: 2006 MY07 2.5i Liberty Wagon in Pearl White
Location: Sydney-Blue Mountains
Mod: Sound System
Plans: More Sound System
Occupation: Communications Electronics Technician
Year of birth: '87
Interest: Tennis, Computer Gaming, Audio
Previous Rides: Errrrr...'88 Corolla and '98 Camry Conquest.

I've had my Lib since 2009, and I'm signing up now as I'm making some changes to my sound system (already spent about 10k on it since I got the car). I'm after some ideas on how to mount my new 3-way components. I'll likely do a build thread.

Some pics of my ride:

https://www.facebook.com/media/set/?set ... 1c6ce06b4b

Haven't added any new pics to the album in quite some time, but nothing has really changed much!

Current sound system specs: (Was more of a ground pounder)

Boston SL60 2-way splits factory mounted with sound deadener in front doors. Tweeter mounts angled up slightly
2 x Treo Engineering 10.44 subs rated @ 750wrms each
2 X Treo Engineering 75.4 amps 75wrms x 4 or bridged to 300wrms x 2 each
1 X Hertz HP 1 KD 3200wrms
Alpine W502EV Double DIN touch screen
Alpine PXA-H701 Digital processor

I've since grown up now want a more sound quality based system so I have purchased some Hertz Mille MLK 3 3-way component speakers to install. Tweeter and mid into A-Pillar and Woofer into sealed door pod.
New subs and possibly different enclosures to follow soon after.

Welcome mate. I'm in the lower blue mountains myself, and have a white 3rb wagon.
I'll keep an eye out for you!

Insured for 14k, how likely is this a write-off? I know it's hard to see, but I have no idea on these things. Never been in an accident myself (Girlfriend was driving the car at the time and got ran up the back of).

I would probably prefer a write-off as it's a good excuse to get a GT finally! And I've got a few friends who have had accidents and all say their cars are never quite the same again

That sucks dude....

I'm not sure....hard to say if there is anything structural that's been compromised....plus one for it to be written-off and getting a GT 8)

It is always hard to tell from just one photo, however, having once removed all those pieces to fit a towbar, it appears to really only require a tailgate, a bumper cover and possible some inner garnish (and some TLC).
The tailgate lock mechanism would skip over the lower lip of the boot floor.

BTW, 3.0R-B wagons are really nice!

Got most of the audio stuff out, except for wiring really.

I found a nice 07 gt wagon down the road from me on car sales. it's in Warrimoo. That belong to anyone here?

I spend most of my time driving at 80km/h between home and work. Which would be better on fuel at that speed? A gt or 3.0r spec b?

Hi Tim,

I'm down in Emu Plains now. Would love to take you up on that offer soon!

As I've never had to go through this claim process before, do I get a choice in where it gets repaired?

Depends on your insurance company, and whether they let you choose your own repairer.

Who is it insured with?

I'm with AAMI. They didnt ask who I wanted it to be sent to, they just asked if I preffered my home or work location. That was last Thursday they finally got around to asking me and I haven't heard back yet. Do assessments usually take so long? I want to know soon if it's a write off or repair so I can plan my next car purchase haha.

They must have heard me complaining. Got a call from a smash repairer saying he had my car and was about to start the assessment. He doesn't think it'll be a write off unfortunately.

Guess I wait until it's repaired and see how it drives before I try and sell it.

I rang aami and got a copy of the repair quote.

Total cost is $8903, and they are going ahead with the repair! :(

Expected to be done 23 Dec. They are still trying to work out which vehicle behind us was at fault (out of the 3 that all failed to stop in time) so I don't know who to bill for a hire car yet. Hopefully know soon as I'm sick of juggling the single car with my gf.
