Hello from the ACT 2

Thanks for all the welcomes, much appreciated.

For those that asked I have silver rims (three of which are damaged thanks to the valet parking at one of Melbourne's better hotels. The hotel refused all responsibility and is not recommended).

As mentioned in my original post I'm thinking about some "lite" modifications. I'd like to improve the car to realise some of its potential but I also want it to look completely standard.

However, in the ACT we have Random Vehicle Inspections and they are now very, very strict - I've already had one run in with an inspector who tried to tell me that Subaru did not make a Liberty STI and that all my modifications were illegal. I must thank the person on the Subaru helpline who set him straight.

The same inspector failed my son's Honda Integra for being too low. My son's response was to trade the car on a 2004 Forester XT - he's very happy now.

A few questions:

Can anyone recommend a performance tuner in the ACT?

Any suggested "lite" modifications to unlock some of the performance potential?

Are there any get togethers planned for the ACT?

and I love it. Now with improvements.

Hi John,

Try calling Glenn at ESP - Extreme Sports Performance (in Queanbeyan) to talk about performace options, also Ultimate Tunes in Phillip are Subie specialists (I see these guys when needed).

Not good to hear about the ol vehicle inspections, never had any dealings with them (touch wood I never will). I guess the positive thing is that your sone now owns a nicer car (point him towards GTRydaz.com - good group of people on that site  ).

We've only had a couple of get togethers so far, for dinner and a chat but I am keen to get out for a decent drive one day. There was mention of a drive out to Bungendore, depends on who is keen.

My mod list awaiting installation is some coilovers, rear sway bar and a set of brembo brakes. I like the power the Lib has, although less than my GT Forester, so am keen to get it handling and stopping better - then I might look into some added power.

I drive a red wagon with smoked chrome led tail lights, tint etc, so if you see me on the road flash or wave.

Hi John

For lite mods I suggest getting a HKS air filter and doing the resonator-extomy first off. Great car too!! :D
cheers Dave
