Hi all, thanks for having me.

Basically, I've loved my Liberty since buying it new in 2004. Absolutely stock apart from adding Bilstein dampers at 130,000 and factory sports grille. Have been looking at buying a 2nd car to take kids to sport etc, but there is just nothing else out there that's decent looking or decent to drive except for high priced euro's !! Can't go past the Liberty Gen 4 experience - hate the looks of the Gen 5.

My Liberty is soon going to be written off since it was hail damaged - thanks to useless repairers trying to fix a dodgy paint repair and leaving my car parked outside during the hail storm before Christmas.
So now I'm on the search for a Gen 4 Liberty to replace the wagon. 3.0R or 3.0 Spec B would be ideal, but I may have to settle for another 2.5i with the "annoying" 4 spd auto as my wife can't drive a manual.

Seems to be plenty of good info here on the forums so I'll be a little busy reading for a while :)

Hope to catch up with other members out in the real world sometime.. cheers.

Current car: Atlantic Blue Pearl 2004 Liberty 2.5i wagon
Previous cars: 1970 LC Torana 6-pot, XE Falcon 6, XD Falcon 6, Pulsar Ti 2.0.
cheers, David

Welcome David. Keep an eye on the events page for the next meet which shouldn't be too far away.

Cheers,

Thanks Tim.

Update: I'm going to look at a 2006 3.0R-B sedan on Thursday. Hopefully it checks out okay. I made myself a 2 page inspection checklist to make sure I don't miss anything. :)

Also contemplating buying back my hail-damaged wagon from insurer when it's written off and use it as a second car - and then trying my hand at some panel beating
cheers, David

Just beware if you do this, there is a cost of having it put back on the road and you may have issues with getting it insured. No one in the Suncorp group will insure it, not even 3rd party property damage if it has more than $500 worth of existing damage. I just had a jeep written off in the hail storm and was thinking the same thing.

RACQ will do Third Party Property only, no Fire and Theft. I'm steering clear of the Suncorp group (except maybe Shannon's) for my insurance in the future.
No cost getting mine back on the road after write off as it's still roadworthy. Just fill in the form F5018 (hail damage repairable write off exemption) from www.tmr.qld.gov.au and send it in to viunit@tmr.qld.gov.au. 3-5 days turnaround to process it and you're back on the road. No fees.
cheers, David

For what it is worth I have three cars insured with Shannon's (yes which is Suncorp) and I could not be happier with an insurance company for service, ease to deal with, features of policy and price performance. In my case they left the competition for dead and until I have a bad experience I will never consider changing. I have unfortunately had 5 claims in 2 years having been insured with them and every one smooth as. None were my fault luckily.
