Ok spoke to the engine builder today, first diagnosis is that a piston has broken :angry2: how the fxxx that happens on a new bottom end with only 1600 miles on it is anybodies guess!

Going to make the 4hr round trip on monday to take a look at the motor. At least they appear to be admitting liability so this will be my second engine rebuild without paying for it but still not happy about any of this.

I have a feeling that when I get to see my engine all may not be as it seems, I have a feeling that some damaged parts from my first engine have been used in the rebuild hence the quick failure of this one, hope im wrong.

Heres the print out from the rolling road the figure is in bhp.

The piston that broke was standard, considering going forged, currently talking to Tim about a supplier. This power output was achieved with just 0.5 bar boost, have the ability to run 0.8 bar so when its all working again should crack 400bhp or 298kw quite easily

I think I win the award for unluckiest H6 owner, on my 3 engine in 3000 miles. I have to stress that none of the engine failures have been due to the sc and everyone who has seen the sc kit and experienced what it does have nothing but compliments for it and that includes me.

As before those of a nervous disposition should look away.

Because of where I am with the engine builder I dont want to say much more other than the fact they have admitted liability and will be supplying a complete replacement engine which at the end of the day is what really matters.

Have you considered parts and advice for your next build from Andy Forrest?

So on Monday I made the trip up to look at my engine as you can see from the pics.

I am now pretty certain that none of the work they said they did to my seized engine was ever done, they just literally stripped it down removed the cat debris and put it back together, this is just blatant fraud i was supposed to have a completely new short motor as it says on my invoice.

Just need to ensure that from this complete and utter shity situation I land up with a good motor, more trips to check on their work. I wouldn't mind but they can build good engines they just chose to fxxk me over bastards.

I have just read this and I must say, not something I would wish on my worst enemy.

I would think that if these mongrels had only 'tarted up' your original motor, rather than supplying and new short block, wouldn't the engine number still be the same and therefore be easy to prove?

Yeah I dont think id let it slide that easily. Good builder or not they will continue doing this in the future until they're caught red handed and punished for it

If the catalytic converter guys insurance paid for the repairs... that is insurance fraud. Well it would be here.

Lets just say the engine builder has come to an agreement which I am happy about. I have a CAD file being made up of the standard pistons to get them produced in either 2618 or 4032 alloy. Debating as to whether to keep the offset wrist pin location to keep piston slap noise down when the engine is cold.

I'm having the pistons made 0.25 OS so the new block can be rebored to ensure everything is as it should be. Heres a pic of my new block (new to me) the bore look in good shape but after the maching work we will know they are.

Image

Should have the CAD file done by the end of the week then 3 weeks to process pistons by JE in the USA, so hoping to have the car back in March with forged pistons and rods at no expense to me :D
