Fist time owner of a Subaru.. I was a commodore kid from way back (had a Calais, VR II SS & supercharged VS II GTS) but then I saw the light after my sister brought an 06 Forester GT and Dad brought an 05 Liberty 3L with B4 suspension a few years back (both autos) (they have also had earlier models of the outback & liberty wagon which were slow & lacked any sort of handling). But I was amazed at the acceleration of the Forester GT and of the handling & refinement of the Liberty and thought one day I will have to put the two together and get my self a manual Liberty GT. Then a couple of weeks ago I happen to stumble across the 08 Liberty GT-B STi with the six speed manual at a dealership and had to have one, but I only had it for half a day before I headed back to the deep jungles of central PNG for another 6 to 8 weeks. So it’s sitting patiently in my garage with about 250km on the clock, while I am over here anxious to get back so I can start on the mods and take it for a drive out into the hinterland. I know of some mountainous roads only 25 mins drive from the Gold Coast with no speed limits.. True, they do still exist.. They have the old “Drive to suit conditions” signs.. Plans are to start off with some mild mods.. EcuTeK tune, TMIC, then 3” exhaust & CIA.. After that who knows… As I am new to Subaru and first turbo car, so any tips would be greatly appreciated..

Welcome Adam! Very nice acquisition indeed! Even though it sucks being away from your new car, you could take advantage of this down time by ordering performance parts! By the time you return home the parts would have arrived and ready to be installed!

I now realise that anyone who says that is a liar, myself included. The key is to not know what's available, then one will be happy with how it is. But once you find out what can be done, you're a goner.

only picked up mine today and already i got in my hands (not installed yet) the air guide and panel filter.....

Where abouts? Elect Engineer.. I work for Ok Tedi Mining at the moment (in Tabubil) but I also work with the local regional engineers providing essential services to remote villages all over the place.. I am counting down the days.. The longer I am here the more mods I want to do when I get back and I have only been here 1.5 weeks with 4.5 to go..

Yeah I will be using this time to do as much online ‘mod’ research as I can, if I was back home I most probably would have rushed into doing something without any patients what so ever.. I saw D_Liberty metion a “panel filter” what’s the story with it?

Its only got 250km's on the clock, I am not sure how I will go taking it easy for the 'break in period' when I am only back in Aus for a limited time..

The Subaru recommended break in method is "drive it hard".
Don't over-rev it, lug, or sit on the same revs for long periods, but do some solid acceleration through all the gears. The first couple of 100kms are the most important.

Stayed in rabaul until the volcano blew in 94, then moved around, i've pretty much been everywhere. My brother currently flies for a company in moresby and my dad works in new ireland.
