Hi everyone,

My partner and I have just put an offer in subject to finance on an MY05 3.0R B wagon with 37k on the clock.

In the past few months of looking for this particular car, I've noticed a fair disparity in pricing between the very few of these cars that have come up Australia wide, and that's with similar stats for the cars themselves. Would anyone care to offer their opinion on why this might be?

Anything else I should look out for in particular? Trees are a given by the way.

Cheers guys, I'll let you know how it goes.

BlackIce, are you on the rigs or in the office here in Perth?

I ask because because I work for a casing and tubing supplier.

g'day Brad.
I see noone has answered your main question yet.
I don't know the answer either :( What sort of price range have you observed? Possibly the lower priced ones have been bent or flogged.

Hi Ric.

Most I've seen have been 45-46k plus on roads, with one over in NSW for 42k.

I picked mine up for 41k driveaway and it looks straight as a die and the dealer says he knows 'for a fact' it's never been in an accident. He sold it new and although the k's are above average for an '05, the vast majority of those are country/highway trips between Harvey and Perth (approx. 140klms).

Unless I've been had, I think the dealer just didn't want to piss about due to the fact they are about an hour out of Perth.

If there is anything wrong with it, would I be wrong in thinking the new car warranty is comprehensive enough to cover it?

Yes, warranty should cover you.
They'll only fix squeaks and rattles in the first 12 months, but anything else should be fully covered within the original 3 year period.
The only thing I've heard of to look for is excessive oil consumption in the H6 engines. See: http://forum.liberty.asn.au/viewtopic.php?t=150

Hi Brad,

Welcome aboard.

Dont tell me its another white 3.0RB wagon???? We would then have a close competitor colour to black.

Phil.

Hi Phil,

Nope, silver.

Black would have been my first choice, but not enough used ones around to be fussy.

hello and welcome :)

Average Kms for us in WA is about 25k PA, so 37 is well within average for an 05 (depending on which month). New car waranty is comprehensive enough but you only have about a yera left on it and i would make sure that if there area ny issues, you sort them out asap! Also have your car checked out by an independant 3rd party before warranty runs out and get any faults fixed.

Bye,
Mo

Thanks Mo,

Any recommendations for independent Subaru mechanics?

Youre welcome :)

I'd recommend Leigh and Revlimits Motorsports (revlimits.com.au) - known him for quite sometime now.

Thanks again Mo,

Do you have the contact details for Revlimits? The website doesn't seem to be working and I can't find them in either the yellow or white pages.
