29 December 2013
2004 Outback Premium Pack, Obsidian Back paint
Original owner from Sydney, paid $61000
I purchased Feb 2012 $15000. 98000 km, now 160000 km. Engine went at 173000km June 2014
Feb 2016: clocked 221000 k's

Raptor supercharger cast impeller with 55.3mm over-running pulley. Just changed to a 53.9mm pulley July 2014
Very happy with the product and service from Tim. This is the second hand kit that Tim put up for sale at $3800 with a few 1000 k on it. In July the belt shred whilst tuning with Matt one cool night (right after we clocked 3.8s 0-100kmh). Tim replaced the belt and upgraded some other internals, had it back same week.

Non intercooled but with Water/Methanol injection. IAT's around 60-70 deg.
(I have found with the AEM meth kit that the hose connector on the back of the injector is not 100% reliable. It's a push fit/friction plastic ferule inside the housing that has tiny teeth to grip the hose. The supplier has had same problem himself and suggested I cut some off the end and re-insert. It seemed that was working until I lifted the bonnet at the group meet yesterday and it was off again. A bit disappointed on what is an excellent system otherwise. The biggest concern is that you don't know if it has come off. I've wrapped the hose and injector together with a bit of race tape for now.)

440cc STI injectors

3A pod filter

Had a small MAF sensor-to-mount air leak, had to change to a thicker o-ring. Not sure if original 0-ring had shrunk in thickness.

MAP sensor from a WRX.
Stock one doesn't resolve higher pressures, same mount. Denso part 22627AA170

Custom full twin exhaust and mandrell bent MS piping, 2 1/4" to first muffler then 2" to rear.
Raptor mild steel extractors (2 1/4" out), two 100 CEL cats, 2 1/4" dual in/out straight through stainless mesh packed muffler with internal X (from a new SV6 commodore), two 2" x 24" hotdogs, two 2" x 16" triple flow + packed Redback rear mufflers.
Started out with Hurricane straight-throughs on the back, no hotdogs and a Borla dual in/out centre (packing eventually blew out), it was way loud. This setup is pretty good but I'd still like it quieter. I just think these motors have high exhaust volume, no wonder the standard mufflers are so huge.
Update Jan 2016. The Commodore muffler started rattling, replaced with a Magnaflow 12468 dual in/out with internal X-pipe. Best combo yet, nice deep sound

Hexmods 5EAT valve body. Awesomely quick gear changes!
I also have the Hexmods bronze bushes for the centre diff waiting to go in, will enable safer 3500rpm stall.

Maxxis M35 tyres 235/50/17, stock are 215/55/17. Exact same diameter. Amazing grip.
July 2014. Been to Lakeside and Queensland raceway in the last month for the first time, they squealed a lot on that surface though was easily controllable sliding. Hopefully have some semi slicks next time. Best lap was 1:07 at Lakeside and 1:04 at QR
Dec 2015: I've had Nitto Invo 225/45/17 on since Aug 2014 (36000km, almost ready to be changed), very good grip on all surfaces wet or dry.
Slightly better at 1:06 around Lakeside

Dec 2015: put on GT Radial UHP 235/45/17. best grip yet, $150/corner

Slotted and drilled front rotors, QFM HPX front brake pads.
I only installed these a week ago but are much better than the previous organics. Didn't see any fade through the mountain roads yesterday, and they got hot!
July 2014 put in some Thermo Quiet (ferodo?) pads along with different rotors http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/For-SUBARU-O ... SwPhdVART- , so far I like, and the rotors aren't going rusty like the RDA ones. The HPX pads wore out at QR in no time!

To come:
billet impeller Done Nov 2014
coilovers Done
higher flow fuel pump for E85 now that it's just become available locally. Done, but first e85 tune wasn't right so back to 98 for now until I see Matt again

This is my work car, I drive to various sites throughout the day all around Brisbane. Helps make the work day a lot more enjoyable.
I get about 8-9 km/L around town, 10-11 km/L Hwy on 98.

I'll try to take some pics soon, there's a few in the QLD Meets section

Rob

Speaking of sound, here's a clip from a year ago when the exhaust was first done.
I forgot that the very first exhaust fit it had the cats, x-pipe, 2x 12" resonators and 14" hurricane straight thru's.

a little bit of vid I took with camera specs on a quiet work day, had a job at the gap so thought I'd take a detour along mt Nebo road

This was before a conrod decided it was all too much and also took a detour about 2 months ago.

Had another 112k motor from a wreck put in 5 days later. It's been going well and was a bargain at $1200. Car is going in for a full respray Monday, under insurance due to vandalism. Downside is they're giving me an Outlander hire car to drive for the 2 or 3 weeks while it's in the paint shop.

Can't tell for sure, was at low rpm when it went and not doing anything particularly interesting.
Matt suggested it could've weakened from an over-rev and fatigued, which I agree is most likely.
That's the biggest problem with the auto's, the engine revs up so quick now, that it's lazy getting out of 1st.
Of course I've asked Matt if there's an ecu fix, but I think he said it's the tcu that's delaying.
I said if there's one thing I wish he could do is fix that.
Since the swap whenever I'm up it I'm changing manually and early, but it'd be nice to have it change as soon as I want it to.

Nah, I don't really want a 100 or so kilo coffee table getting in the way.
Kept the heads though, and all the sensors.

Just fitted some Nitto Invo 225/45/17 tyres recently, they hang on pretty well.
Interested to see how they grip the corners at Lakeside this weekend, hoping to shave a couple of seconds off the lap time.

I purposely went for a smaller overall diameter to lower the gearing (634mm, 34mm/5% smaller than stock), and it's noticeably quicker of the line.

Also fitting a JacksGTB/Kobemotorsport strut brace which is on it's way and should be here tomorrow or the next day.

Had those Nitto Invo tyres on for the last 36000km, best grip yet.
Almost down to the wear indicators, if you don't count the edges
I got about 45000 out of the Maxxis's, but these are a softer compound and I do put them to the test often.

Billet impeller has been going great, along with a 53.9mm pulley getting about 12psi max and pulls harder and earlier.

Done 42000km caning this $1200 engine now :yahoo:

I've changed the bearings in the Idler guide pulleys, first time about 18 mths ago they were pretty bad and noisy, and again a month ago because I had a radiator hose spring a slight leak which sprayed into one of the pulleys and it started making noises.
If you haven't done yours I'll recommend checking them. easy to knock out the 6203 bearings and press in new ones, ideally on a press or vice but could be done tapping with a hammer or rubber mallet using the old bearing to push the new one in. And get Japanese bearings from a bearing shop, only $10 or so each.

The top/left radiator hose sprung the leak while I was driving around during work. Rung around the usual suspects, Repco, Bursons, Autobarn, Supercheap, none had one in stock. In that time the radiator had cooled enough to top up the lost coolant with water, then I went to the closest Supercheap as I remember they have all their hoses on shelves to look through for yourself. Bought a CH2024 mackay hose for $17.99 which has almost the same angles and maybe 1 or 2mm larger diameter which still slips on tightly enough over the rib in the rad pipe, and borrowed their pliers for the Rad clamps. It's done the trick and has been holding up to 35° days. Cool thing was getting a $3 credit on my club plus card when rad hoses went on sale a week later.
