Introduce yourself

Greetings from Sapporo, Japan...

Postby Higuma » Sat Jul 06, 2013 8:37 pm

Greetings all - thought it would be best to first introduce myself here...

I'm an expat Canadian living Sapporo Japan for the past 12 years - My current car is a my'13 Legacy GT 2.0 DIT Touring Wagon in SWP...

Have had my wagon since Nov/12 after a 4 month wait for it to be factory produced... well worth the wait IMO...

So far the motor and drivetrain is untouched ( no tuning solutions available yet thru Ecutek or Cobb because of new Hitachi ECU on DIT ) but have tweaked the suspension & wheels as follows - Blitz ZZR dampers, Cusco Rear sway bar, Ray's Homura 19 x 8 / 45 wheels, Kuhmo Ecsta SPT 225/40-19... Few other bibs and bobs but nothing that significant...

Pictures as follows... Looking forward to participating here in your community...

Thanks everyone for the warm welcome... I too like the look of the latest "D" type 5th gens...

The pictures posted were taken just after the dampers were changed - so since that time the car has settled about another 1 - 1.5cms... Currently it is about 55mm lower than stock on the front and rear and this COMPLETELY changes the look of the car ( for the better :D )

Regarding the grill - I almost opted the optional factory mesh type grill when placing the order but to tell you the truth I am now more partial to the regular one... You can't see it in the picture but the grill on the DIT GT is not actually chrome - it is a darker bronzy chrome and looks quite nice with the Satin White Pearl...

Thanks again for the welcome... I will start exploring my way around this site...

Cheers,
Higuma

Thanks - about the nicest cast wheels Ray's makes I think...

They were actually quite cheap for here in Japan - - but not as cheap as the tires... :?

Wheels ran 119,000円 or about 1,300 AUD - - but they threw the tires in for only another 300 AUD...

The wheels originally had center caps that looked like this....

Image

But I ordered new gel-domed center stickers from a great source I have used before in GB who made these in the color combination I wanted - then pulled apart the Ray's center-caps, modified them to take the new center decals at the proper depth so that they sat flush with the wheel face and ended up with this... ( just a test fit before final adjustments - final product looks factory IMO )

Image

Final Product... Only set in existence that look like this - keep getting people asking me where I got modern STI wheels in 5/100 PCD from...

Cheers...

The motor is the real topper though - the 2.0 DIT here in Japan runs 300ps on pump gas...

The new high-torque Lineartronic CVT is quite a trans - S# mode defaults to an 8 speed and shifts quite quickly in Auto or Manual w/ paddles...

Can't get a much flatter torque curve that this...
