Hi Guys,

Really appreciate the warm welcome.

Just to give you guys a shock, cars are bloody expensive in Singapore and I paid $83K for the Legacy 2.0R.

Tangcla, give me a buzz before you come over.

Thanks again

Yup, here's how it works:

Total cost = agent's price + COE

The COE stands for Certificate Of Entitlement which you pay to the Goverment when you buy a new car. The larger the engine capacity, the higher the COE. In my case, it's $16.8k for a 2.0 litre engine. This is valid for 10 years for which you'll have to scrap the car when it expires.

The Government control the number of COE that is release every month. So the less COE that release, the higher the price.

Some prices for Subaru:
1.6L Impreza $55k
WRX $82k
WRX STI $95k
Legacy GT $105K
Legacy Spec B $120K

Pretty much close to how Vietnam is set up.

The scary thing is people who can afford cars over there are rolling around in the top range merc amg's.

Cost them close to double what we pay.

Phil.
