Hi All,

Just a quick g'day! I have my heart set on a 2001-2003 B4 TT. I have always had a soft spot for these cars. I have been looking for only a few days, but have now narrowed it down to a few. Hopefully in the next week or two I will be the proud owner of a B4! I would appreciate any constructive advice.

I live in Melbourne.

Cheers,
Harps!

G'day and welcome! Can i say you have good taste... The MY03 B4 was the vehicle that convinced me AWD was the way to go. Prior to that I had only ever owned r.w.d. cars.

My 2c worth, service history is very imortant with any turbo charged vehicle. Regular oil changes are much more important than for a n/a vehicle. Turbo bearing tolerances are small, when it is spooled up the turbo is spinning very fast and is a highly thermally stressed component. It really needs good quality clean oil if you want it to last. Personally I am not a fan of dealer servicing, i prefer to go to one of the better quality performance orientated workshops around and build a relationship with them. It may cost you a few $$$ more but as with everything, you get what you pay for. A good starting point would be to take your prospective new ride in for a pre-purchase evaluation. You should expect a competent workshop will be able to let you know if there are any problems, particularly if they know you are planning on returning. I prefer to test drive on roads I am familiar with, it's easier to pick up anything unusual about the vehicle then although it isn't always possible for obvious reasons.

Finally, take a friend along with you - preferably someone who knows something about cars. I have found that my friends approach my vehicle purchases more objectively than me. As they are not paying for it, the psycological process is different. Good luck!

Congratulations! Some pics would be nice.... I also have a soft spot for the B4, being the car that sparked my addiction to the Subaru brand... Cheers and happy motoring!

Looks great and nice colour to boot! Although I would ditch the STI badge and throw a few extra screws under the lip. :D
