Thanks Sandi, and I reckon you are spot on Ric, she was paranoid about breaking down and would just replace it when it was flat.

Welcome to the forums/money pit!! :D

Are you kidding me?! 2005 Liberty with 19,000kms on the clock?! Now that's a diamond in the rough!! Fantastic find there mate!!
Below car has been gone for quite some time now... blew bottom end bearing and dealership screwed me! Now driving 2008 WRX with ~65k kms on the clock. Only has cat back exhaust and tune by KiDo at the moment! More to come... but slowly!

Purchased recently (12/11/2013), already with: Stage 2 Pedders lowered springs, rear Whiteline sway bar, Advan Racing TCII 18x8 wheels, k&N pod filter, custom 3" exhaust system from turbo back with Magnaflow mufflers. ECUTEK tune of some sort (hopefully soon to be fixed)..... now FIXED!! Now KiDo Tuned!
Added: HID kit, EZ lip equivalents to the front and sides, and various LED treatments, oem boot spoiler, [LGT WRC] plates, GFB Respons BOV for extra Pssscchhh! --> Gone... I couldn't afford it's heart transplant... but keep a look out, as it will come back on sale soon!

I would really love to come on he cruise Kieran but it falls on the same day as Cruise for Charity so I am torn between the two mate. I am leaning towards the Subaru cruise but not 100 percent yet.

And you are probably right Tyrus but I have really fell in love with the car, ha ha.

Hey everyone,

I have decided that I would like to lower the liberty and have been doing some research. I was going to buy coilovers but after alot of research, it seems that they are a grey area with regards to whether or not they are roadworthy so I have decided to steer clear of them.

I have rang around a few places and have found a few threads about spring heights and it appears that Pedders have the largest drop. I also found this thread;
viewtopic.php?f=19&t=14365&p=193635&hilit=pedders#p193635

I was just wondering if anyone could confirm that Pedders springs are the lowest springs you can get without going custom and if anyone could link me to pictures of Libertys with these springs installed.

Thanks guys.

Remember that ground clearance less than 100mm is also illegal regardless of suspension type.
And I believe some states have a limit of the ride height change. For example maybe that you can't raise or lower more than 50mm from stock.

Also, I don't think coil overs are illegal as a rule, I think it is just that they are not ADR approved that makes them illegal.
So if you can get some ADR approved coil overs you would be ok.

I know in some states you must retain a certain percentage of suspension travel to remain legal also..

If I were OP i'd just get coilovers and be done with it. Infinitely adjustable ftw.

Welcome!

WOW! 19k? That would have to be the lowest km 05 Lib in the country I reckon! Great find. :)

My advice is don't drop it TOO low or you'll ruin the ride. 25-40mm is ideal. Enjoy the forum and the Liberty buddy!

Mick.

You are both correct Reuben and Zach, I must maintain the 100mm clearance etc. but the Pedders springs are only meant to drop the car 35mm so it really is not that far. I am sure that would keep the car at a roadworthy height.

With regards to the coilovers, as much as I would love to have them, I just don't think it would be a justifiable risk in regards to voiding insurance, I am not bothered by getting defected or anything like that but if I need insurance at some point, I just don't think I want to take that chance.

Thanks for the kind words Mick, I am very lucky and am having alot of fun with it.
