Upgrading from my first car to a 3.0RB Wagon

Hi All,

On the weekend just past I purchased a black MY07 Liberty 3.0R Spec.B wagon. Let me say I cannot wait to pick it up this weekend. This will be my second ever car as Ive been driving the same black VN Commodore wagon for the last ~11 years. I just hope the Liberty is as bulletproof as the VN has been to me.

A little bit about me is I'm from Ballarat (VIC), 30 years old and working in IT.

I've only been on here for a few weeks since I decided to get a Liberty and I have learnt heaps from reading various threads.

Cheers, Wilso.

Welcome aboard mate.

few things to keep an eye on.
-oil usage., some drank it like fish, others don;t use a drop
-Use good fuel. these engines need 98RON wherever you can, the factory tune is pretty nasty and they knock a bit on anything but the best fuel
-centre diff failure in the 6speed boxes. they get hot and will lock up after about 50km of driving, giving you the feeling of a 4wd with centre diff lock, makes it hard to to tight turns

I'm curious about this one. I've experimented with 95 and 98 over the years, and notice hardly any difference.
I usually use Shell 95, and have never observed knocking in my engine. The engine has done about 125,000km now.

on my normal route home i find myself cruising in 6th gear at about 80km/h 2000rpm with the window down, squeeze the throttle to maybe 1/3 for a little uphill section and it audibly pings on 98RON
So i just leave it in 5th now.

Unless it's wastegate chatter i'm hearing...... ( :alcoholic: :alcoholic: )

Need to get mine tuned. DBW maps REALLLLLY sh!t me
