Own a Gen2 Wagon, but currently looking at buying a Gen4 wagon...any hints, tips or suggestions?

Buying a gen4: check the rear doors lock and unlock, this is an annoying problem.
make sure its shiny, and there are no noises when driving.

I was on the ozlib forum a while ago when i had my B4. Havent been back since actually.

With the Gen iv. Go the spec b or tuned by sti if you want the manual box (read... The best one!) and if you want an auto you may as well go get an auto non turbo wagon..... The boring of the boring!!!!

My Gen2 is a 96 manual wagon, basically stock...except for MY00 WRX rims, louder exhaust and kings lows..
355,000klms and still going strong!

The Gen4 will need to be auto, as its going to be the wifes car.
Keen for the 2.5, leather and sunroof tho. ..maybe a heritage!

Any idea on how much the 100,000k service is? (as most ive seen in my price range are around the 90,000k mark)
and is the McIntosh stereo the goods?

There's nothing wrong with a GT in auto - it still goes when given the right motivation

McIntosh stereo is "good" (depends on how much of an audiophile you are ) - people have had issues with the stock sub, but mine still sounds fine at the moment. I'm ripping out the stock head unit when I can get hold of a facia kit, but only because my parents gave me my other head unit for Christmas and it's only been in my other car for 3 months LOL (and I want my bluetooth and reversing cam back!!).

Totally agree with Ben. Auto's go just as hard as the Manuals, with the tiptronic feature (or paddles depending on which model you go with) it can be even more fun than Manual. I am a manual lover but I am so glad I got the auto.

An ECU tune (from someone like Matt from KiDo) will see all lag and hesitation dissapear making it a dream to drive.

And yeah, McIntosh is alright for most people. I personally couldn't handle it and needed to upgrade. Not a cheap task but well worth it (for me)

MY08 2.5 auto Heritage wagon sitting in my garage.. Will post some pics soon.

...and just noticed that only one of the air vents in the front have the little silver/chrome bling bits on the sliders...looks like they have just fallen off over time.
Anyone know if these are purchasable?

100000 service would be $1000ish or a little more depending on where you go.

Better if you can get one with it already done.

McIntosh is good for a factory stereo, but it's still a factory stereo.

[edit] whoops, just realised you already bought it. Congrats on the new car.

I'd say you needa buy the whole vent, not just the adjuster.
