So it's about time I did this...

Hey guys :)

So, after deciding I felt like joining in on the next SA Cruise (February!? :(), I suppose I should introduce myself :)

Name: Ben
Ride: MY01 Liberty RX 2.5
Location: Adelaide
Mod: Stock
Plans: None at this stage - need to get it generally cleaned up, some paintwork/bodywork stuff, also needs new tires at the moment. My parents gave me a new head-unit for Christmas as I was desperate for BT for audio, so I need to get that in and might get a reversing camera in at the same time, as the headunit is double din with a 7" screen and camera inputs.
Occupation: Service Desk Engineer (IT)
Interest: Gaming (particularly MMOs - EVE, SWTOR, I did play Star Trek Online until I realised how crap it was, and I am sad to admit I have played WoW), TV/Reading (police drama, other crime drama, sci-fi, some fantasy)
Previous Rides: This is my first one! I have a physical disability which means I can only drive an auto, and also meant that I had to do a fitness to drive evaluation, etc - so, due to a combined dislike of Doctor's and standing in line all day at Service SA, I didn't get my L's until I was 27.

I'm now 28 and have my P Plates (which gets me some odd looks), but at least being older than 25 means the high performance vehicles restriction doesn't apply - unfortunately the "less than two years driving experience" clause on my insurance does, so sticking with NA for now :(

Eventually I'd like to trade up for a '05ish or newer GT :)

Edit: Photo! Best one I have at the moment, please excuse my cheesy grin :D

Welcome Ben...good to have another one along on the cruise. Change your insurance to Just Car, pay a stupidly high premium and get that 05 GT you want :)

Hahah - define stupidly high? I can't remember who it was, but I was quoted $2500 premiums for what I'm driving currently!! Needless to say, that's not the option I went with! :)

It was whoever Australian Central Credit Union resells. I ended up going with Elders - their default cover means anyone can drive the car, which was great when I was on my Ls (I drive to work, housemate drives home, etc) without having to specifically designate drivers and hand over every detail of the last 10 years of their lives to the Insurance Company.

Updated OP with photo - best I have at the moment.

Welcome. Don't worry, think of all the money you have saved not having a car all that time :)

AAMI are not nice at all to young drivers. They quoted me over $4K to insure an audi s3 when I was 24. Then when I turned 25 they were the cheapest.

Dammit iisshhyy, now you've got me looking :( The scary thing is, I could get the money, but I have much better things to use it for (like buying a house sometime this year)

The only auto Gen4 GT-B in SA is up for $27.6k ONO with 87k on the clock - there's a few regular GTs and Premium Packs up for about $18 - 19K, with around 130k on the clock (MY04 and MY05) - the wagon doesn't count ;)

As much as it's obviously not, going from a 2.5L NA to a 2.0L Turbo seems like a step down, coz the number is smaller LOL - so GT-B it is! :D I'm sorely tempted to just do it now, before the house purchasing plans kick into gear, coz I'll actually be able to afford it. Problem is, it makes the house more complicated :(

Welcome Ben! And tell me about it, in my case the missus said no new car before house. Got an apartment, and moved in a couple months later after sorting all the paperwork and semi-furnishing it... that arvo, was looking & test driving my current car now

It's hardly a mod, so I'm not going to post a mod thread, but got new tyres on and wheel alignment done today (nothing special, Toyo Teo+) - amazed at the difference it's made, drives like a completely different (and much better!) car :D
