Hey guys,

Just want to introduce myself, have been looking on this site over the last few months as well as reading numerous reviews on the 3.0R spec.b and have finally bought one last weekend. extremely impressed with it, was quite an upgrade from my 2.0 impreza RX '99- not that i want to dis this car because it was great.
Looking forward to getting to know a few of you and am interested in going on some cruises and things with you lot.

cheers for having me. :D

Thats good to hear. :D

Have you got any idea on the 0-100 that the RB is suppost to be able to do (stock) iv had a look around and see quite a few different numbers. have also read that they are faster than a pre 2004 wrx?
is this just bullshit or have you heard things like this aswell

I would say that whoever said it can beat a WRX is talking it up a little...most if not all of the WRX models can get a sub 6 second 0-100 or close enough to that and I don't know of any stock subaru 3.0 that can do that.

It's still a quick car though!

first up manual > auto :)
subaru i think said around 7 sec 0-100, i can pretty much agree with this based on a couple of rough estimates i did (on quiet country roads hahah)
trust me if you get a good start off the line its no slouch, plus in-gear acceleration / rolling starts is pretty damn good :D

Well thats just the problem i have at this point in time. never really been a manual driver before and have on just gotten my manual license. (because of p plate rules had to re-do the test) so my take off at the moment is a bit sloppy haha :?

the 6 speed box in the spec B is a good one to learn on/practice...good solid mechanical feel to it (clutch + actually shifting gears as well)

compared to my mums 2yo honda civic which i learnt on - gearknob has no feeling to let you know youve actually engaged gears, + clutch is a hydraulic piece of shit where you cant actually feel friction point

only piece of general advice id give you is dont be afraid to give it revs on start-up...if you dont give it enough itll bog down / shudder a bit (AWD system symptoms there).
pretty hard to stall...i mean obviously it can be done haha but its got enough torque down low to make sure it doesnt happen easily. to give you an idea its got enough torque at idle revs (~700/800rpm ??) to get the car moving if you let the clutch out slowly enough without touching the throttle. emphasis on the slowly :)

good luck with getting used to it, it should come pretty easily

Thats the first thing i found with this car. Stood out alot after only ever practicing in my girlfriends 15 year old Dihatsu charade haha :)
