Nah mate - typical apprehension and critiquing of new material always yields some negativity toward the product. Add a bit of tall poppy syndrome and the usual justification of why not to change the car over and that's what you get. I guess part of the reason is that the Gen 4 looks good in it's own right before it gets modified, so the general consensus says that it's a good looker. The Gen 5 on the other hand has polarised opinions on whether it's a good looker in it's own right. That is a decision of the beholder.

Wait till the pics get up and few new ones start being modded and things will start to change.

Hell, I've even bagged it out somewhat after spending a few hours with one. Whilst I made the call of "I don't like it", I'll still reserve my final judgment until I see a tastefully modded one.

Looking forward to seeing the pics mate. :good:

Cause we dont want to be mean to the new Gen 5 driver rofl ;), Guess its gonna have to grow on me like the WRX Hatch thing, Hated it now i quite like it (The STI one looks shweet). You might have to be the first gen 5 driver to mod the car so we can see what she looks like ;)

hey buddy i am sure you are going to enjoy your new gen 5. dont worry about the comments from the mostly gen 4 drivers because they are just trying to justify their recent purchases.

I completely agree that the Gen4 looks good, looks great in fact and I think it's because it has a classic look to it sorta like my classic shaped wrx and I loved the way that looked.

Don't get me wrong I'm not at all worried, like with any car there will be some who like it and some who don't and their both perfectly entitled to their opinion, I just didn't want those that don't like it to hold back in an effort to be nice to the newbie.

I'm afraid not there just seems to be little things causing delays, who knew buying a car could be so complicated???

Anyway at the risk of jinxing myself it may be next Tuesday, let's hope!

Well I finally picked it up this morning and so far I'm happy, the looks really are growing on me although some angles aren't very flattering, I've just spent the past hr or 2 playing with all the toys inside... I haven't even driven it that long yet! I've heard some say that the audio system is rubbish but it sounds just fine to me, I've no doubt at all that you can get better sounding systems but unless you demand perfection I don't see what the problem is. It's the same with the steering wheel buttons they feel fine to me despite some saying they feel cheap/tacky.

I'm still getting used to the feel of the car but so far it feels very planted and stable and very quiet inside, amazing how different it is from my old WRX. The electric park brake is different but will be easy to get used to and I have to say I love the push button start. I don't have any pics yet I'm afraid I've been too busy playing with the toys inside but I'll try to get some later.

If anyone has any specific questions I'll do my best to answer but please keep in mind that I've not experienced the previous models aside from a quick ride in an MY09 GT Spec B so I can't really compare them.

Nice acquisition! I do see a lot of potential from the Gen V. But man, those headlights are gigantic!

I forgot to mention that the general reaction I've been getting to its looks so far is very positive, with comments such as "modern and sporty". Someone even said to me they could see a hint of the monaro in the styling, I'm not sure about that myself but they said it's something about the shape of the back windows? can anyone else see it? Oh and the first thing my niece said when she saw it was "that's cute!"

It'll be interesting to see if this trend continues.

Hey mate,
Looks are something that grows on you as time passes...well it is for me for the GenV's anyway
Good to see you have finally got the car, did you get that from Caboolture? if you did then thats the one the future in-laws took for a test drive
The only thing they didn't like was the long throw of the gearshift, so he's going to be trying to source a short-shifter for his when his comes late November, Yes late November there is that long a wait for them to get stock into the country....you're lucky to have got yours as one of the 1st stock.

Also of interest is in the latest Wheels magazine there is the 1st test drive, doesn't go into alot of details because there 1st drive was in the NSW high country on snow/icey roads.

Enjoy it mate, and yes if you feel it has enough K's up come join us at Willowbank next Wednesday night.

Cheers
Steve
