Paddles were introduced in the face lifted outbacks and libs in 2006 for the MY07 model onwards with SI Drive (My outback was a 2006 MY07 with SI drive and paddles). A mate had a 2006 MY06 Outback 3.0R and his doesnt have SI Drive or the paddles. Still went pretty hard for a grandaddy car.
