My Gen 3 RX wagon

Postby anderman » Fri Oct 09, 2009 1:56 pm

Hey guys A few weeks back I got my first Subaru. Its a 1999 Liberty Gen 3 RX.

The body is a bit rough on the car, a few of the panels need replacing but apart from that and a few small things like the cruise control doesnt work and the fog lights dont work (which I am going to fix) there isnt to much wrong with it.
It had a recond gearbox put in 40,00km ago and a new clutch.
Its got cross drilled and slotted front rotors..
The guy before me lowered it with kmac springs but left the stock shocks so they are rooted and the rear sway bar was loose which is a bit of a worry..

BUT
so far iv picked up a set of Gen 3 B4 Bilsteins with 40k of wear.
And i got a 23mm Adjustable Whiteline rear swaybar :).

today I decided to put my Alpine Type R Splits into the front of the car.. But iv come across a problem.. the Speaker spacer/mounts dont fit into the stock holes and i think im going to need to put a bit more of a spacer in there as well because the speakers JUST touch the glass and i can see that getting annoying in the long run..

Hey Anderman I think you're best best is downloading the Gen III workshop manual. It would have troubleshooting flowcharts so you can track down the fault behind those 3 issues you are having.

Nice plan re suspension by the way. With that new bar and the Bilsteins it will make a huge difference to the handling (get a good wheel alignment too).

thanks man. yea i cant wait to get it all in. going to make the handling sooo much better... at the moment the front is srubbing and the plastic guard has come lose and hangs down a bit.. so ill have to try and find some way to pin it back up haha..

yea i downloaded the manual tonight.. i might have a go tomorrow.. I need like a mulitmetre or something to test the connections tho so i might have to go to dick smith or something..

haha im pretty broke now so stuff will slow down for a bit.. but if i can get ontop of these electrical problems, get the suspension in then that should keep me happy for a while haha

Probably a silly question, but do you have the main lights on when you're trying to turn on the foggies?

haha nah its all good. Yea i do have the lights on, i tried high beam and normal and parkers and stuff just to test and they still didnt work. Hopefully Ill pull em out soon and check the bulbs and the wiring and see whats up.

Also yesterday I put the bilsteins and the new swaybar in the car... the handling is amazing now. Im truly impressed.. Im also very tired haha there were many tight nuts and bolts and needed persuasion. Ill get pics up this arvo sometime when I have a bit of time.
