Also in the MtGravatt area, and am sure I have seen the XR6 on the road.
Brother-in-law has a XB Hardtop. Was a lame 6cyl. Since has put in a 351, tricked up the motor, suspension (panhard rod & 9" rear end), wheels/tyres, brakes & HO fuel tank. Spent more on it than most would spend on their boat!!! The family calls it a bucket of bolts, but shit it goes!!!!
Ex-rotisserie man. I had a RX2 & RX3. Much work on it?
Z28 eh??? Good gear!!!
Enough of the Falcons, who did the heart transplant on the XJ6? Would have been a nice little sleeper.
That Phatman is quite contagious!!
Will you retain rego. LOK-01?
Thanks for the welcome there SMI77
I wouldn't be at all surprised that you may have seen my XR6 around the place. I sold it to a 62 y.o. retired gent and he couldn't believe that I had ironed out the bugs with this model and that it only had 93,000kms on it when he bought it in 2003. I hope he got used to the police pulling him over for no reason.
The XB hardtop was my first car and boy was I young and stupid back then, I almost slid it into a power pole coming home one night and I was only 5kph above the area's posted limit.
Ahhh, the days of arguements over whether 12A or 13B still lingers, mine just had a mild bridgeport and a webber that sucked like no tomorrow. The most memorable thing about my RX4 was that a week after getting new tyres, my right hand rear wheel came off when I drove up the street !
The Camaro was nice and stock, but boy did the mirror LH to RH conversion cost a mint in those days. The stand out feature was that it had "chick pulling power". One day when I was slowly driving through Surfers Paradise and came to stop at a red light, this young cute looking girl opened the passenger door and hopped in and asked where I was going ! I said, just up the road towards the beach, she said kool, and I drove until the next set of red lights where she gave me a kiss on the cheek and hopped out and waved goodbye. I still considered that to be the weirdest thing to happen to me - ever !
Yes, I had a Ford Windsor 289 motor and C4 gearbox ( hi stall ) plumbed into the "Queen Mary" as we used to affectionately call my XJ6 by a guy called Mick that went to the same high school I attended. He was into building drag cars based on XW & XY's and raced them at Willowbank etc.. He had a shop called Hog Performance.
The XJ6 was a great sleeper as I even retained the original S shaped rear tail pipes of the 6 cyl out the back but I had modifed the chrome badge that was on the boot lid from 4.2 ( for the 6 cyl ) to 4.9. I used to see some interesting expressions in my rear vision mirror of people who was obviously mystified by the badging, especially Jaguar purists. Even so, I was a full member of the Jaguar drivers club and on a couple of club meets, I ended up towing other XJ6's home.
The "LOK-01" plates are hanging in my garage and the Silver Liberty 3.0R has "LOK-66" ( dark blue background, silver lettering ) attached front and rear.
