Hi all,
I've been lurking for a bit but figured I should introduce myself.
Name: Dave
Ride: '99 Liberty GX sedan, 2.0, 5 speed
Location: VIC
Mod: 100% stock, 250k on the odo. Yes that's a 1993 MELWAYS in the passenger footwell. This car's a bit of a time machine, the only hint of 21st century in it is my $15 smartphone holder from SCA.
Plans:
I'd like to one day:
- add a set of UEL headers & an exhaust to suit (2"? 2.25"?),
- (if they exist) some lopey SOHC cams,
- (if they exist from auto, RX or Heritage models) a taller final drive,
- a tune to optimise the above,
- source some GD WRX gold or silver 17s, <-- it's currently on stockies after losing a GX hubcap somewhere down the highway
- some Gen3 RX brakes, and
- consider swaybars for just a touch firmer cornering, and lower springs if the 17s look a bit silly at stock height.
I'm 40, so this is basically a work & runaround car. I'd just like it to sound nice (boxer sound, not loud) & be fun to cruise to the shops & back in. I think its standard diff ratio is a bit short, I'm in 5th gear by 60 and it sits on 2800rpm at 100, or 3100rpm at 110, and I do a fair bit of highway driving. If I could have it sitting around 2500rpm at 100 I'd be happy. I'm not chasing any performance gains whatsoever given I'm starting with 90kW of fury, so I'm not concerned about going even slower with a taller diff.
Wife's car is a 2013 Outback Premium 2.5i.
Anyway I'd be most appreciative of any tips on headers, exhaust sizing, cams, final drives, suspension etc.
Cheers
Dave
