Bought a MY05 3.0R-B!

Hi team,

On Saturday I bought my second car. I had an 02 Liberty RX
Turbo models seemed to be pricey and well thrashed around my budget so opted for a tidy Liberty instead.

This hadn't been run much the past few months, and hence the battery was dead, otherwise smooth. Fluids all perfect, oil and filter changed in last 200kms.

I got it checked out with Techworkz in ACT and they gave it the thumbs up. The gearknob is a tad loose but not a biggy. Sort of used to it now but might change to STI short shifter later in the year.
Seller had it up for $11k, I got it for $9.5k. Probs should have got it for a bit less, but I was pretty keen to buy it that day and he sensed it aha.

Things I LOVE:
Smooth powarrr
6-Speed STI box
Leather everything
Sunroof 8)
Elec seats
Dash on startup
Light steering
Cruise engages smoothly

Things I'm iffy about:
Some clonk/noise at full lock (I try to avoid anyway)
1-2 tyres needed for RWC
One foglight is out
Bilsteins are a bit stiff for passengers

Future possible mods:
HID headlights
STI short shifter
Black rimz
Auxiliary sound in somehow

SO MY QUESTION TO YOU GUYS IS:

What tyres should I opt for?

I am thinking Michelin Pilot Sport 3s. The size I need is 225/40R18. Sadly since 215/45R18 is IMPOSSIBLE to find, these are the size to go for. Also it seems the outer edges tend to wear a lot more, is that due to larger size in tyres, low tyre pressure or simply driving style/roundabouts galore in ACT/aggressive Bilsteins? Wheel alignment compulsory?
JAX in Fyshwick are quoting me $240 a corner and $55 for wheel align.

Should I get the foglight done by mechanic, myself or Supercheap for $10 fitting?

I'd love some Xenon or blue/whiter lights than stock (eww).

OTHERWISE it's amazing :D Few things that need attention, crucial things are all solid!
Thanks for your input guys and gals!

Hey mate,
nice rig, dead ringer for mine before I changed wheels.
Wheel alignment is a must, and if possible, by someone that has half a clue about setting a Subaru up. Otherwise you will always scrub the tyres out well before you should.

As for tyres - go with the best your budget will allow. I has a set of cheap Hifly or something on the family hack (on there when we got it) they lasted just 20k of sedate driving before they were shagged.

I went with 235/40 on my RB as it gives a closer rolling circumference to 215/45 than 225/40. So less speedo error. On stock rims they might get close to your struts. My wheels are 50 offset, so all in all the tyres are only about 5-6mm closer to my struts.

Enjoy, and get a tune - will make the car heaps better to drive. There is a heap of torque in these that the factory tune does not let you see.

Cheers
