Introduce yourself

Hi, Mark from Brisbane with 3.0R-B

Postby miguel_sanchez » Sun Aug 03, 2008 8:47 pm

Hi Guys,

Name: Mark
Ride: 2005 MY05 3.0R-B Liberty,
Location: QLD, Brisbane, Wooloowin.
Mods: None
Plans: Tinted windows to protect the interior (not fussed on looks/darkness too much), maybe an exhaust, but that would be it, bought the 3.0R-B because i didn't want to go down the modification road
Occupation: IT Consultant
Year of birth: 1984, turned 24 earlier in the year
Interest: Well as of the other day driving my car is right up there on the list of interests :) Also play guitar when i get a chance, play indoor soccer and also getting into boxing (although i only train, doubt i'll ever fight other than sparring, too much of a coward! Ha ha.)
Previous Rides: Learnt in a 1987 Telstar TX5 which my parents owned, drove that for a few years until i got a 1992 Corolla SX. The Corolla was a fun little car, but lacked torque and was getting old, so figured i'd trade up whilst the marked was favouring the buyer and got myself the Liberty.

Been a fan of the liberties for quite a while, wanted to trade the corolla for an RS liberty a few years ago, decided to hold off. Then wanted to upgrade to a B4 last year, again decided to hold off a bit longer, and finally gave in and picked up the 3.0R-B this week.

Will get some picks when i get a chance, but it's stock so you should be able to picture what it looks like pretty easily :)

Oh no you don't! You don't get to escape posting pics that easily! Everyone has to post pics of their ride whether or not it's modified or stock! :D

But welcome, Mark! Great car you've picked up there! When I first got into Libertys, I was trying to decide between a MY05 GT and a MY05 3.0R-B. Ended up with the GT because I thought it was more fun. But since joining this forum there's a lot of potential fun in the 3.0 as well. Just needs to be tapped.

That's quite a diverse list of interests you have there! Hopfully one of them will be modifying Libertys soon enough. :D Have a fun time on the forum.

Don't infect the poor guy.

I hear they respond very well to turbocharging though.

Who, me? :pardon:

K2 Gear has an excellent supercharger kit available for the H6.

Welcome aboard mate!

Enjoy ur stay!

The rears are actually privacy glass Adam. So it not just tints. Plus they are very dark, so to have them at the front would be more of a hazard as it would be hard to see out of. Thats why they didnt put privacy glass at the front as it would impair your vision.

Rear Window
91% UV
40% light

Rear Quarter Glass
93% UV
25% light

Rear Door Windows
94% UV
19% light

Can't block out 81% of the light and still comply with ADRs either.

As the 2nd previous poster mentioned, impaired vision is one thing. But what I found out from Toyota when they did the exact same thing for my brother-in-law's Kluger (dark tint in back but no tint in front), is that some of the tint film contains metals which can interfere with the sat/nav reception. So they just simply didn't do it at all. So anyone looking to tint the fronts and has sat/nav should opt for the smoked, not metallic tint film.

Awesome ride miguel.. and good to see another local on the northside.. not too far from moi!!

Hope you enjoy the ride.. It is a smooth beast to drive!! Hope you can post up some pics soon.. there are a few H6 owners on this forum and plenty of ppl here to help you out if needed.. :)

I haven't yet got my windows tinted.. and i guess the brissy heat is coming around again so i will have to do it.. just can't convince myself of which darkness to go!! :? Did your tints already come with the car or did you go somewhere to get them tinted?

P.S - i still have my 93 corolla.. hahah..

Woah, about a dozen posts in a day, you guys sure know how to make people feel welcome! Glad i came to an active community. :D

I think i'm happy to stick with the NA 6 for a while, but who knows, maybe one day i'll get bitten by the mod bug and want to throw that supercharger on it! Won't be for some time though that's for sure.

And for tints, i don't even have the privacy glass on the rear, so I don't have to worry about getting matching tints. The sunroof is tinted though, not sure if it came from the factory or not though :?: And the sat-nav interferance thing is interesting, i'll definitely be doing some further research into that.

And i'll grab some pics in a couple of weekends, or maybe show day holiday next week. Will try and nick my mates Digital SLR and have a play with it, hopefully should get something decent out it!
