Hi I'm Kusa, I've been posting on the forums asking questions for a while now and haven't wanted to put photos of the car up stock, so since I've had a few things done to it here it is...

Current mods so far:
K&N Panel Filter
Hi-Tech Dump Pipe
KiDo Tune
Cusco Front and Rear Sway Bars
Cusco Front and Rear HD End Links
Tien S-Tech Springs
Rota Gravel 18x8.5 Rims
Nitto Invo 235 40 Tyres

Plans are:
Upgraded Brake Rotors and Pads
CBE (Really not sure what system to go with so make suggestions!)
KiDo Re-tune

Let me know what you think and if you've got any suggestions, I don't mind spending a few grand more on the car so any good bang for buck ideas send them at me!

Hi Kusa,

Gorgeous car mate. Top stuff, very clean. I like it.

You mod list looks good, and your to do list looks good too.

As far as CBE is concerned, its a personal choice. Do you like noise? If so, a decent 3" s/s system can be had for under 1k, and the sound will have the boxer burble. If you dont like noise, keep the stock mufflers and upgrade the mid and Y piece to beefier items. There is still low to mid range gains with a Kido retune. Mufflers only become a big issue for power over 170-180kw at the wheels. You'll sacrifice about 5kw at the wheels with stock mufflers.

For me, I like the boxer note. I have an Ultrex s/s 3" CBE system so far. At the time I didnt know what to expect and though I may have to throw another resi in to keep the noise sedate. But after it's now settled in, the noise is very subdued. You know there is a sports system fitted, but it's not blaringly in your face. In top gear, you can just hear a slight note over the road noise at cruise speed, and mines an auto. I will be fitting either an Invidia or AVO dump at some stage, and a Kido retune for some extra grunt. I too will be looking to upgrade the stock rotors and pads to something a bit more decent.

Just comes down to what you are looking for in your car.
Cheers
Shav

Thanks Shav I do really like the shape of these cars and since I've had it lowered on wider wheels I've absolutely fallen in love with the look of it, even though it still looks pretty stock.

Also the small changes that have been made to the suspension have actually made a huge difference to the handling. A lot more then I expected. The car to me feels the way it should have straight off the showroom floor with a $50k+ asking price.
It has way more grip, especially in the wet. The skinny stock wheels with the Falken tyres I had on it before were borderline unsafe to drive on the car had that much understeer.

As far as exhaust goes I've decided to fit the Hi-Tech cat back. Their workshop is just down the road from where I live so I'm taking the car in tomorrow to have it done.

I know their stuff isn't stainless or flashy but it's apparently really good quality so I don't mind paying a little extra.

Matt's going to give it a re-tune next week so I'm looking forward to that!

Would it be worth me spending $400-$500 getting a CAI before he re-tunes the car?

I know the CAI's are a hot topic at the moment. Matt is about to embark on providing an additional engine warranty with his tunes soon. Part of this arrangement involves NOT having a CAI fitted so that his cover will be accepted. In saying that, a lot of members on here have it fitted and aren't bothered with Matt's extra warranty. You will find that the CAI is really beneficial for power up and over 200kw at the wheels. A CAI will net little gains under this. I have heard that the stock air filter is good for about 160kw at the wheels. If you want more induction noise, I recommend just fitting a HKS panel filter. Cheaper than a CAI and should easily handle the power your looking for with Matt's tune ($80). Until Matt says, you have a restriction in that area, I wouldn't bother. But that is me.

Cool well I wont bother then.

Also I've picked the car up from Hi-Tech and it sounds great. Pretty loud even with a resonator. I'm actually surprised by how much it sounds like a wrx.

Tune's happening on Tuesday night, then having the rear guards rolled on Wednesday...then onto upgrading the brakes.

What should I go for bang for buck wise with discs and pads?

Awesome. Be sure to post up your results with matt. Your exhaust sounds great too. I know of the wrx note our cars generate with a nice system. Vid or sound file required. :D

As for discs and pads. Again it depends on what use your using it for. But I hear DBA 4000 series rotors and qfm hpx pads are the go.

I just got the exhaust silenced a bit. It was way too loud when I drove it back from the top gear festival yesterday on the M2. I definitely prefer it now, still the same sound just quieter.

I'll make a little video of it after the tune and let you know how the car feels :)

I'm looking forward to having decent brakes, but I've got a feeling I'll be chasing 200awkw to finish off the mods for the car, we'll see.

The jump to 200kwatw with stock turbo and auto is hard to achieve without E85 and a decent TMIC. 200kw is just a number to impress ya mates if you ask me.

A few on here have achieved 200kwatw+ with a VF52 turbo change and tune OR changing injectors and a tune on stock turbo with E85.
