The 2Gen RX Bilstein Edition (in white!) was my first Subaru love. They're a great car.

Subies tend to be popular in regional areas anyway (AWD has its benefits on dirt roads, and there's generally plenty of those around), so I suspect there'd be a few Subi owners down in the Albury/Wodonga area (I know that's not exactly local, but it is closer then Melbourne ).
