Hi there! Just became the proud owner of a 2007 Liberty GT Spec B Auto in steel silver. I live in Brisbane and picked the car up in Mackay for $22.5k only has 53,000ks on the clock and it doesn't have a mark on it :D So pleased with the purchase....well considering I traded out of a 2003 impreza RS sedan...love the sunroof, love the sound system, love the sat nav, love the standard bilstein suspension, love the general quality and comfort of the interior...so much more to love, I could go on and on LOL

One thing i'm keen to change however is the exhaust note...so far I've found the forum very helpful but I would like some further advice on how I kick off my exhaust mods to achieve that deep, raspy burble that most subie owners aspire too :P ..I'm leaning towards Xforce as I've listened to a few of these systems and to me it definitely sounds like the note i'm after. However I do have a budget to start and can't go anymore then 1K (including install), so my question lies in what components of the exhaust should be changed first....would appreciate opinions from those who have experience with the xforce, I was thinking changing to high flow cat and then 3in mild steel xforce back, then unsure about the muffler set-up so some guidance here would be greatly received...the next step is naturally changing the DP to a WRX 08+ as I understand this will be an efficient upgrade to net a gain in POWAAA but will this also significantly change the sound of the exhaust after the mods above?

In a nutshell, I would love to get a nice, deep burble with out it being offensive at start-up, not expecting power gains at first as I understand i would need to spend then then my 1k budget..

I'll upload a photo of the car soon :) ...Looking forward to eventually meeting a few fellow enthusiasts 8)

Welcome to the forums mate, sounds like you got a fantastic deal there!

Exhaust: A catback exhaust will give you the sound you are after, for under $1k installed. I believe that X-force systems are quite loud so if you want it to be loud they are a good choice. Putting a new DP in will give some good power gains but they aren't cheap...

Thanks for the welcome mate...thanks for the feedback, i'm not wanting obnoxious loud so hoping i'm headin in the right direction with the xforce. More critical is getting that sporty burbly you hear from STi's. I live in an apartment complex so really loud start-up could mean I make enemies...is there any other system you could recommend that would give me that sporty note without it being tooo loud? Keen for others to chime in :)

Cheers
Sam

I'd be looking at getting a DP, and then a catback exhaust with the tuned by sti mufflers. That should give you a nice sound without being obnoxiously loud, probably looking at around $1500 or so for all though. I don't have a particular brand of system in mind, a catback isn't going to differ much between brand. Bear in mind that after a DP upgrade, best to also get a tune which is more $$$
