Name: Matt
Ride: well hopefully soon a Gen 4 Liberty. but currently a 1990 Nissan Pulsar N13.
Location: Sydney, Belrose
Plans: Many once i get my liberty. (haven't even got one yet but i can already see this car and this forum sending me broke, happily broke though haha).
Occupation: Full time Macquarie Uni student. also work part time at Bunnings Shithouse.
Year of birth: 20 yrs old. born 1992.
Interest: driving, footy, beer, pub.
Previous Rides: nil. pulsar was my first car.

As I've said i don't currently have a liberty, but i have always wanted one. remember seeing a tuned by sit Gen 4 years ago and knew i wanted a liberty then and there.

a lil background if interested. well i recently got the bad news from the mechanic that my pulsar is terminal, doesn't have long left (not without spending silly money on an old car of such little dollar value). so need to get my act together about saving for a liberty.

so due to being a full time uni student and only working part time i don't have lots of money so budget is tight. SO my question to all of you is with a probable budget of 10 - 15k am i better of accepting higher kilometres such as up to 150k for a early Gen 4 GT (what i really want) or to go a lower kilometre 2L or 2.5L???

hoping the pulsar lasts awhile to allow for maximum funds to be saved (rego runs out in november, doubt it will last that long though). would appreciate any advice. and look forward to being apart of the forums.

cheers guy.

Welcome. You've started in a good place mate.
Personally I'd look at a gen 4 gt with around 100k for $15k. When looking at high km cars, just be a little more picky.
Make sure service history is good.
Are the km's hwy or city?
Is the 100km service done? Etc etc.
good luck,
Mick

Welcome mate,

150k isn't a big problem, my GT has over 160k now and it doesn't miss a beat. Just make sure its been serviced regularly and hasn't been completely thrashed, they will require more general parts to be replaced through wear and tear though so they may cost a little more to maintain than a lower km car.

If you buy a 2L or 2.5L I think you would regret it, the turbo always brings a smile to your face

Hey.
thanks for the input Mick and Daniel.
yes definitely have my heart set on a GT. will definitely be a big step up in power from my old pulsar.
and luxurious compared to it aswell haha. definitley think i will hold out when the pulsar dies if i dont have the funds for a GT at the time, as i do think i will always wish i had waited and got a GT.
any body had much luck with travelling to buy a car? say fly to VIC or QLD and drive it back?
as it seems there are alot more available outside NSW.

cheers guys.
