From 05 WRX to 08 Liberty

Gday forum,

Name is Max and just joined forum to get into liberty spirit.
bit about myself....
- im 24 from burwood (inner-west Sydney) currently full time business student but work part-time at dick smith ;)

but about the rides....
ive mainly owned honda's...civic, CRX, integra but when got my full license got a prelude but this one was turbo 8) was a h23 with t03/t04 pushing 170fwkw. dont mind the dooshbag numberplates [PLAYYA] at the time before i gave it a makeover

after i got over the fwd honda thing... Subaru's really grew on me and i felt they were more solid, all rounder powerhouse so got a 05' WRP10 WRX.
mods inlcuded 3"TBE, bov, airfilter, y-pipe, wheel-spacers, headlight mods...

so brings to just recently that i parted with the rex since im saving for a Euro trip & a ring(lol), got cashed up while i could and picked up this 08 Liberty Heritage pack few weeks ago. put on the plates & just today have put on my wheels which i bought previously for my rex....see below

I got just 2x of these wheels off Nick (STARRN) member on here with same XXR527 wheels. got another 2 off the net so all measure up 18x8.75 +20 offset
so now that got these on, the challenge is put forward to see how i can make these ride smoothly, clearly the aggressive offset puts my guards in danger of destruction,
so im going to ask for guidance in what i can do with cambering, pumping + rolling guards etc.
reason for this is i have also got some lowered springs ready at home to install for this stanced look im craving but i need to get this right. i have to see if its possible! please let me know what you guys think im open to all criticism . if you think i should just leave stockies let me know! :)
As for any further mods....
just aesthetic really as being a 2.5L auto cruiser no speed racer here.....so lowered springs, rear tailight tint, headlight blackout, quad exhaust tip change, Sti front lip. thats it :)

hope to get involved in forum and attend meetups!

Hi Max and welcome!

I vote to leave the stock wheels on. As stockies go I reckon they're really nice, plus you don't have to worry about crazy offsets or rolling guards. Just my opinion.

Mick.

are they 18.8.75 +20 all round ?
you need to roll and pull gaurds for them to fit and also will need camber kit!

Yeah... the reason no one runs this offset is because half of our guards are plastic :(
No matter what you'll do, they'll always hit, even with extensive guard work. I had three panel beaters look at my car for +35 and pretty much all said they wouldn't touch it as they'd probably do damage.
It's a shame because they look great, even if I'm more partial to +35 than +20 for cleaner fitment personally.

Nonetheless, good luck!

Welcome!
You'll probably need to cut/fill your guards and or fit eg outback flares...

needs thinner rubber, lotsa camber, pump the guards. then it will scrub only a bit
I've now seen 3 cars on here give up on these rims. offset is just a tag too aggressive. unless you want to make a big effort with it (which i would love to see), id say get some less aggressive offset. just my opinion
Apparently i've never been on live television before

Welcome.

You could make it work if you do a lot of guard pulling (to the point you would most likely have to get the quarters resprayed), or custom flares / custom quarter panels.
Plus trimming of the plastic guard liner.

As for headlights, you can open yours up and paint them and seal them up again.

If you don't want to do it yourself, Leo can help you out.
