hey guys, dropping in for an intro

hello one and all, thought id sign up as ive just bought a liberty!

little bit about me, im a tradie vehicle spray painter living in croydon vic and am engaged to be married in early 2013. been a proud owner of 2 R31 skylines, one of which being a rare Silouhette GTS1, have owned the other, a Green S2 Ti, since i was 17 and dont intend on ever getting rid of it, has seen some extensive mods, both cosmetic and mechanical including a a front end respray, manual conversion and a few other bits and peices, got my hands on alot of genuine 80s nissan parts which in this day and age can be difficult and expensive.

just signed up to join the culture, recently aquired my new daily, 2001 Liberty RX, been looking for a few months now for something to replace my aging R31 skyline. bought it on the weekend on the 3rd of dec and am enjoying it immensely. have already ordered a brand new genuine subaru gearknob as the one in it is tattered and worn, plus new crystal clear guard indicators to replace the crappy yellow faded ones currently infesting the guards :P. Being a daily, it probably wont see too many mods, maybe down the track a set of rims but not much more, just general maintenance stuff. the bonnet has abit of hail damage but im not in the slightest worried about it, being in the smash repair trade i can fix or replace the bonnet fairly cheaply.

The only drawback ive found is the clutch/flywheel is suffering abit, been reading through a few threads and i reckon it could be a Dual Mass Flywheel issue, cars showing all the symptoms described by other members, its something i want to address fairly quickly but ive seen the costs involved and am happy to put up with the horrid noise until i can arrange something, as long as the prick of a thing dont go bang, perhaps going down the path of OEM parts like some have might be a viable option.

heres how it sits at the mo, names Gordon (flash gordon), not because it quick (defs not), but basically coz its red, my fiance and I have a habit of naming our cars, both past and present and the name stuck, hence the username :D

either way, im pretty stoked with it, and hope i can learn abit from you guys and am pretty keen to get myself along to a cruise/meet and get in on it
Cheers!
Matty

Welcome mate,

Nice ride! I loved my rx to bits (some pics on here http://forum.liberty.asn.au/viewtopic.php?f=7&t=14752)

Solid mass flywheel is the best thing you can do to these. When I had my rx I upgraded the flywheel (and put a heavy duty clutch in at the same time) and it made a huge difference! (cost me about $1k, but I did it myself).

Any pics of your skylines?

awesome, love the white 02 RX, clean as hell

yeah ive read abit into the solid mass flys, subi dealers will more than likely want me to throw big $ their way as the car obviously isnt under warranty. Im just gonna have to shop around, see what my local mech suggests, tho an excedy kit sounds the biz, chucked a Exedy HD clutch in the 31 a while back, best thing i could've done for it.

my GTS, now sold, sad sad day

and my Ti, with my old mesh rims
