Hi all,

newish Liberty owner having had my 06 Liberty GT STI for about 3 months now. My first Subaru and very happy with it, a bit of a step up given ive had quite old cars in the past (previous daily was an 89 Galant GSR.) decided it was time for a newish car when my galant of 5 years started breaking down. Being a very fussed person there was only 2 cars i was interesting in within my price range at that was the Lib. and the xr5 Focus and im happy i plumped for the right one. I also own an 88 Galant vr4 Turbo which is currently unregisted (complicated, if anyone can help with engineering/blue slips please do PM me).

I live at the bottom of the mountains in Grose vale (out past Windsor/Richmond or Penrith if that helps) and also have only just switched to manual having always driven Auto's since my youth, so if you notice a grey STI liberty stalled at a set of lights that will most likely be me. do wave, or flip me the bird. :)

Im very car-illiterate so im here to ask stupid question and get as much information from you in the know as possibly. The first things on my list of upgrades are new mesh grill, DVD unit, fixing the crack or replacing the from spoiler and fixing the sunroof which doesnt seem to 'seal' properly. I also have new number plates on the way STI 114, Silver on Black. Further down the line ill be after some performance upgrades and thats where things get confusing for me. Hopefully ill learn who the trusted guys are to take Libertys to for mechanical work as me taking out work on a car is a danger waiting to happen.

Look forward to learning a few things and enjoying these great cars.

Here are some pics.

welcome mate, great car youve got there

its a good car to learn manual on, very forgiving and you can actually feel the clutch and gears (unlike newer cars with hydraulic ones) so dont worry about stalling too much, youll be fine :)

Welcome, Such a nice colour and car combo.

Was going to suggest getting rid of the yellow plates until I read it properly. Should set it off perfectly :D

Welcome John. Hope you enjoy the liberty GT more than the Mitsufishies! I too used to own a VR4 (89 JDM) and it did spend most of its life being repaired...engine replacement and 2 blown turbos so always kept a spare turbo just in case (still in my garage if you need one). ..I didnt take care of it as much as I should! GTs are the big brother of the rex like what the Galants/ Legnums(what a name!) are to the evo's .. so I can see one of the reasons of your GT purchase...enjoy!
